I am sooooo glad the tournament was not today!!!! To sum it up in one word it was POOR!emoBang Got out at 10:00 when the rain let up. Went to several places I thought I could catch a bass or two. At about 12:00 noon I finally hooked and got in the first fish and it was about a pound white. Fished several locations and finally my last stop about 2:30 I caught two more a yellow bass and a hybrid. At 3:00 I had about all I could stand and called it a day. Talked to two other boats and they had not done any good either.emoConfused Never found anything that would bite, saw lots of fish on the electronics and schools of shad but no action. The temp was 51.2 the warmest I found and most of what I saw was in the high 40's. Lots of fresh water and the lake came up about a foot. Not making excuses but I hope next weekend is better.emoCool Jmax

Jmax, what kind of areas did you fish? From what Jason posted about HBSP at least the spots were hitting but it sounds like from what you and Pointer experienced that they were bunched up and if you didn't find a bunch then you weren't going to find any.

I fished mostly the drops in the main lake but did beat some steep banks with rock. Looking back on it I did not fish any deep points except one and it was not over 15 feet so I may have not been deep enough. I fished alot of water, flats, drops, creek beds, rock banks. Used cranks, silver buddy, worms, jigs, and grubs. Just did notseem to get anything going. Must not have been holding my mouth right.emoCool Jmax

fished saturday and watched the Southern Anglers. tournament was won with 17 lbs by some local semi-pros! but the weights fell off fast from there they said 21 boats were in it and 8 blanked and i saw a lot fo bags with one fish.

I was just in the right place at the right time...pure luck. If 2jigs had not directed me to that location, I would have went to Booker T. and bombed.

Jason, I doubt that you would have bombed but the info from 2jigs was right on the money. I would expect that the two points there at Booker T. would have similar potential as the one that you fished. They both look great to me every time I get out my maps. Supposedly there are some smallies on one or both of those points in the winter. And don't think that when you catch fish it's "pure luck". It seems like you have a great feel for where the fish are and how to get them to bite, don't sell yourself short.

Years ago when I had my own boat, my younger brother and I put in at Booker T. on about 50% of our outings. From the long point outside to the cove on the inside, we could literally spend the entire day catching bass in that small area. In fact, I rarely started the outboard.

Hey Fishheadspin what lake was yhr Southern Anglers on? And what ramp' did anyone have any nice spots or smallmouth?

it was on the chick at grasshopper. i did not see any smallies and did not pay attention to see if there were any spots. I do not think there were any though!
