Met up with Ron around 7 this morning. We had a very fun few hours of fishing this morning. We had the whole river to ourselves and we started down near the country club. The fish were smaller than they were last week but it was still a blast. We ended up switching back and forth from topwater to ultralight tackle and caught them all morning long until the first line of storms started rolling in a little after 11am. Ron had his crappie counter and we totaled 98 fish in the boat today. Most were small spots and goggle eyes, but we did have 4 big bull bream and I lost a smallmouth at the boat. We tried to get to the 100 fish count, but Ron breaks off on one and while he's retieing, I hook up with a big spot on the topwater and he ended up breaking me off. emoDoh The lightning was moving in quick so we called it a day. Thanks for the ride dragfish, I had a blast! I'm glad we decided on going when it looked like everyone else stayed home. emoThumbsup

Once again, the action was too fast to stop and take pictures, but I did get one shot of one of the 9"+ bull bream I caught....

Thank you for the report and the wisdom to get off the water when the lightening started up. If is clouds up this side of Nashville with the threat of lightning, then my boat stays dry. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

We stayed dry ourselves Dickie, just beat the storms! But my boat got a free carpet wash on the way home.
Thanks to Danny for the U-Light idea, it got the numbers up, we were talking about you in a good way. On bass gear we would have had maybe 20.
This would be a great way to take some young ones out for a great time!

Not a bluegill/bream, that is a redbreast. They will be spawning soon and are one of the best looking fish in the river.

glad yall had a good day but that was the first time he could say used his counter like that (Ron had his crappie counter and we totaled 98 fish ) it never went that high when he was crappie fishing emoPoke

They are definately pretty fish. That picture does that fish no justice for how colorful it was.

WTG, emoToast Also good to see the big bream showing up already. They are a blast to catch, just think how they would pull if they weighed 5 lbs, emoTongue Thanks for the report and pics, emoThumbsup

Ron, I use 4 to 6 lb test line on ul or light action rods and have a blast. Just make sure that the drag isn't too tight or that big fish will snap it on the first run. You definitely will get a lot more bites than with heavy bass tackle. You guys did good. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

"Tis better to hook a big fish and lose it than to never hook it at all." Someone surely must have written this proverb. emoUpsmile
