Just curious how you guys store your fishing tackle at the house? I keep accumulating more stuff and my rod rack is exactly the same size so I need to do something different. thanks for any suggestions.

I need a rod rack that will hold about 50, the corner of my garage looks like a rats nest in a cane break.

I use the Berkley rod holders that you screw to the wall. You can make one real cheap out of PVC pipe. I think there was one is Bassmaster some type back. It is real simple to make and you can put as many together as you have room. You use the T PVC pipe and connect them together with a small piece of straight pipe. I know this isn't the best explanation I will see if I can find the article and I will post it.

check ebay, i bought a ten rod wall rack for 14.99 made of red oak, it looks nice and holds your gear secure. i need one more but i guess i should get rid of a few of my older combos.

Yes, that is a true statement...and I have some of his at my house right now.....I wouldn't say a rat's nest though. Right now, I have about 26 standing upright in the den...no place to putt'um...The room is full of wife's stuff...whoa is me.....FA

Walll racks have been mentioned but the problem is, it eats up the wall space. Thats why I like the Okumas. They also come with hardware and instructions to attach to a wall if you have the space. I really like the portability of this system too, I just slide it around the garrage so it always out of the way....and away from kids and women...the #1 destroyer of rod tips!

I cut PVC pipe in 12 inch pieces. I then attached the PVC to long 1x4s about 6in apart. I have them attached to the walls around my garage about 8 in off the floor. Currently about 35 rod and reels resting comfortably.

This is how I have mine arranged. Maybe not the best solution yet. Spaced so that reels don't tangle with each other.

I had forgotten about another way to store rods. You can go to Wally World, Lowes, Home Depot etc. and use those clamps that you hang brooms, mops, rakes, etc. A friend of mine uses these and they work great.

Drumking, have you got them rods hanging by a guide????? That ain't a good idea to suspend them by a guide....next thing ya know you will be replacing a guide...FA

Drumking, first thing I thought when I looked at your pics is that FA better not find out that you are mis-treating your rods that way.

2 ten foot sticks of 1/2 or 3/4 metal conduit with a 90 bent on each end with a hole drilled in them then a wood screw run through each of them into a wooden rafter (overhead) about 4 or 5 ft apart works real well. Overhead storage out of the way,can get about 20 poles stored depending how they are placed on rack.emoIdea

FA, you know that I'd never abuse those guides. I have been doing this for weeks and having had a problem yet. Oh, I do have one bad guide on one of my casting rods, but it isn't hanging by the tip.

I got one of those okuma ones. Thanks spur. I didnt realize they were that cheap. Only problem I found is that I could only get 10 rods with reels on it but other then that its great.

That just means you dont have enough variety in your gear Craig!

I mix mine, from big cat rods, to ultralights, and got 14 on one, and 16 on the other rack. With some of my rods having long handles, it helps to fit more in too.

Did you connect the two halves, or attach both of them to the wall?

I like to use rod socks with loops at the tip and a peg board. This way you can easily adjust the spacing if nessisary and when you put your rods in your rod locker they dont get tangled.
