Chad and I had not had a chance to pre-fish for this on, I told him we are going to fish history, we were very fortunate to be boat 1 for this one, I told him (I’m not allowed to drive my boat when he fishes with me) where we were going first and that he just needed to trust me on this one, we blasted off and got to the spot first, we were joined by several other boats, I think they were hoping we would leave, I grabbed a crank-bait first and on 2nd or 3rd cast put first keeper in the boat. We fished for a while longer and Chad was ready to make a move, I told him not yet, that there were fish there we needed to wait it out about 20 min later Chad calls for the net, nice fish right at 3.5, not long after I put #3 in the boat, so we have 2 spots and a 3.5 ish, he is getting impatient and ready to move, I told him to look around, there were 4 boats pretty close to us just waiting on us to move, I told him not yet..right at dark (about 9:30-9-45) I make a cast and line starts moving I set the hook and yell net, I said this is her ( under my breath I’m saying don’t be a cat) she comes up and OMG I’m like yes finally Chad scoops the net under her and in the boat she comes, he puts her straight in the live well and culls the smallest spot, so now we have a 7ish 3.5 and small spot. I told Chad we need another 3 -4 and we might have a chance (I was thinking we needed 14-15lbs) we stay in the same spot ( after Chad say you were right dad you just have to wait them out) at about 1030 I make a cast (pulling out backlash) go to lift bait ,,, carp im hung up, I’m shaking the rod , I said take me over there to get it , I’m still shaking the rod trying to get it loose and bam, we get our upgrade , this fish had to have pick the worm off of the rocks, now we think we are close to 13lbs I said one mor good full should do it, we stay on the spot until about 11:00 and finally make a move, we made 4 moves from 11 until time to go in caught fish but nothing that would help, we head to the ramp, as we are walking to the scales Chad looks at me and says you have the winning bag and big fish, I told him big fish maybe but not sure about the win... he was right we finished with 12.77 and big fish of 7.10.... it was close, Ronnie and Earl were right behind with 12.11 I think .. Mark had the prettiest bag of the night with bookend small mouths .. see everyone in 2 weeks.all keeper fish were caught on shakey head and Texas rigs in about 14ft of water...
