Hey Jmax, thats something you know nothing about!!! emopoke

emoLaugh emoUpsmile I love you too Brandon. emoBigsmile Jmax

I was asked to remove the post very politely by a club member. He just told me that what I published was not the opinion of all those in the club, especially some of the veteran club members. He was also very complimentary of my complimenting him as a "skilled angler".

I did not mean to start anything, even though apparently I fueled an already burning fire. Don't get me wrong, many of these guys are good Christian men who love God and bass fishing...

Just to clear the air on this subject: I live less than 1 mile away from Shilo Baptist church and have visited their on several occations I just wanted to go fish. I never intended to upset anyone but if I did I am sorry.

Buddy, it is my understanding that none of the objectionable members are from Shiloh Baptist. You should not hold it against anyone at that Church.

Just for a second, forget all the fellowship stuff. Is there some unspoken ethical code of tournament fishing that states "You absolutely can not enter a tournament in which your odds of winning, whether based on skill level or sheer luck, are extremely high."emoScratch IMHO, the cherry picking argument usually arises out of jealousy, either over the cash won or the skills used to earn it emoAngel

Congrats to the winneremoSmile

See Jason, thats why they accept me with open arms at ALL tournaments. No chance of winning. I like to fish with those guys a few times on Friday night during the summer when I can. Good bunch of fellas.

Gentlemen I don't think my dad and buddy ever intended to participate in every FOCBA Tournamment but to participate in club meetings and dogfights. My dad called the FOCBA president Mr Cope was his name more for myself and partner Logan to fish. He told my dad that the FOCBA wanted to grow their tournament to around 30 teams and everyone was welcome. I'm only 17 and my dad is starting to let me fish tournament trails with my fishing buddies and thought after we looked at the FOCBA Website and mission statement that this tournament focused around not winning big money but promoting christian values and this would be a good group for us to fish with when we could. Yes i'm only a junior in high school but i was surprised at some of the post I saw and heard about. Many of you don't know the character of my dad or Buddy so why make these comments because they had a good day. I know my dad felt bad because I had a good day also and they were better that day than we were. I really don't understand but like golf i guess if Tiger is going to enter a golf tournament and you dont beat him on that day do you talk him down.

Haden, Thanks for your reply here.

I hate to see these types of post get fired up this way. Theres no sense in people complaining over a tournament that is very open and well ran. I want to apologize if any of the members here started anything that got out of hand.

I can tell you that it really irritates me to have these complaints come to CFF!!!! That's not what this forum is for and it definitely doesn't do anything for anyone but start trouble. If issues arise with in a trail or tournament, those people that have the complaints need to privately deal with them and not air them out of CFF.

I really dont know your dad that well but have hung out with Buddy on a few occasions...nice guy and a great angler. I'm sure they will hand me my tail a few times in CBA this year..LOL. If I remember, you had a few good tournaments last year too.

Tight Lines is what its about at the end of the day...;)

I can only dream of the days when I get blackballed from a tx trail! LMAO!

I like fishing against anglers that have higher skill levels and more experience than I(its not hard to do). I think it makes me a better fisherman, also when you do well, there's a great sense of accomplishment. Buddy and Greg have took a dollar or two from me before, and I just respect their ability to catch fish even more,no remorse!

I get paid to deal with crap 50+ hours a week, when I actually get a minute to enjoy time away from work, I'm sure not gonna work myself up over my failure or someone else's success.

Great weight Greg and Buddy. It is certainly great when knowledge, time on the water, and fishing skills come together. It is always good to see that much weight come off a lake so small and over fished. Time on the lake over the years is hard to beat. As a matter of fact, on the right days with the right conditions, and no mistakes, it is almost impossible. The guys who catch big sacks... put in the time. I know these guys and I feel very confident in saying its not about the money. It is about fighting fish, catching a good sack in a tournament(large or small), and just having a good time. Mark my word. One day when Greg passes on some honey holes to Hayden, and Hayden finds many of his own, guys will accuse him of cherry picking. When in fact, he, like his father, grandfather, and great grandfather will just be fighing the fish, not trying to win a couple of hundred bucks. I have never fished a FOCBA tournament. I do however know the leadership at Shiloh and know they are a great bunch of folks and am sure they would love to have anybody on this board who is looking for a place to worship to join them this Sunday. Thanks for the kind words guys. Tough day on the CFF for the FOCBA, myself and partner. I certainly know some of the negative opinions posted today were not the officers of this trail or fishermen that participated. Personally its really tough to comment on but I think the previous 4 post cover more than I could ever say. The FOCBA officers have organized an excellent trail focused around Christian Fellowship and Family, best comparison would be the Fishers Of Men Trail. These guys will fill up this year with 20 teams as they would like to do. After speaking with Dropshot today I knew the FOCBA trail was the kind of tournament it was presented to be. For some of you guys looking for good fellowship and a well ran trail contact these guys they have certainly proven to me they stand behind their mission statement.

First of all my apologies to Buddy and Greg.
My name is Joe Pickett and four years ago I founded the Fellowship of Christian Bass Anglers as a ministry to fisherman and their families in hopes that we could fellowship with each other without all the hipe over money and bitter rivalries. To have an organization that the fees were not too expensive and anyone could join and have fun and fellowship. Where the anglers could learn from one another, not only about fishing, but about life and christian values and to grow in our faith.
When I started out I had issues whether or not to let it go outside of my home church, but a ministry should not be limited to those inside the walls of Shiloh. To do that would mean that we would not have the blessing of getting to know others and to share in their fishing knowledge and to help and prayerfully hold each other up through life's struggles.
If you will look on our website and read our mission statement you will see that we are about more than just fishing for fish, we want to catch men, also, and introduce them to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In doing so, we cannot eliminate or exclude anyone.
So, let me conclude that anyone, regardless of your skill level, is welcome to join us in our fellowship.
Let me say that as far as the Nickajack tournament is concerned, we just got a good old fashion spankin' by two very good anglers.
Thank you Greg and Buddy and welcome to FOCBA!!

I know Buddy and he's a good guy who just happens to be one of the best fishermen on Nickajack Lake. If I was him I'd be fishing every open TX I could cause he has a good chance of winning. I have a low chance of winning, but i still enter, cause I learn from these guys weather they know it or not. Theres a fine line to walk when you're making money doing something you love, but when you earn that money you deserve it with no protest. He's paid his dues, so he's earned it.

I think really all the negative stuff that was said were people that did not even fish the tournament nor had anything to do with FOCBA.

I think if Buddy has visited the church before then FOCBA is doing what it was created to do which is to spread the Gospel.

I just think it is funny how so many who were not there or did not fish the tournament felt like they needed to weigh in on the subject.

I must have missed some posts. I read where one post was deleted at the authors request but I dont really see anything thats rude or insulting in what I've read. That deleted post must have been a zinger. I fished the tx. Only thing I ever heard anyone say is that " the pros still have to weigh in". I would consider that a compliment. Im there to learn and got taught some good lessons that day. 1) I need better gloves, my hands are still numb, 2) learned who to follow next time. Outside of a few crappie txs, Im pretty new to tx fishing. This one seemed like a well ran one. Hope this controversy fades away like things usually do.

I think this is a good thread. Opposing views have been posted and a lot of people reading them will come away with food for thought and maybe a different way of looking at it.

Congratulations to the winners ! emoThumbsup
