Got out with an old friend for a day of catfishing. We took my boat instead of his catillac so he could check out the new digs. We had a little bit of trouble catching bait first thing in the morning as he couldn't seem to keep the little channel cats off his line. Finally we felt like we had enough bait for the day and started our catfishing. Honestly I don't expect much when I fish with John as we have always been cursed in the past. We got several bites in the first couple of spots with no solid take downs. We pulled up to ross's landing about noon and ate our jimmy johns that was delivered right to the water. After that we fished several spots down river picking up smaller fish at every anchor. Big fish to this point in the day was a 30 that I caught in a familiar spot down river. Finally we start to head back up river and stop at a spot John mentioned he had caught a few good fish at in the past. We pulled up at this spot at about 4:45. We proceeded to wear out the 10-25 lb catfish for the next hour. Finally around 5:45 we had a good solid takedown. I couldn't talk John into reeling it in as he had some bad luck keeping fish hooked on Monday. I finally battle the beast up to the boat and it turned out to be a 68 lber. All in all a great day with a great friend. I am glad we finally got the big fish monkey off our backs!
