fuel filter?

anybody got a good place on the net to buy parts from? dealers want 42 bucks for a fuel filter for a 75 optimax! its got a plastic cap with a rubber seal and a paper filter! cant see any reason it should be over 15 to 20 bucks! also they wanted 22 for spark plugs a piece but i got a buddy to order them for me at o rileys for 9.00 thanks for any info

Google marine fuel filters or optimax fuel filters, you should be able to find hundreds, maybe some to fit your budget.

I don't know if you will find it much cheaper because the filter and the cap are made together.

Also get your self a 91-8966661 from mecury. It is the tool used to remove the filter and is around $5. This allows you to use a rachet and torque it propery.

thanks..ive had it out already with just a screwdriver..just cant beleive this filter cost this much..guess ill just give the money up and bite my lip

No problem. Just spend the $5 and make it easy on yourself. Wouldn't you hate to spend $45 on a filter and break a ear off installing it? Just a thought!!!!
