GAS MILEAGE

They(250's) both weigh about 505 pounds, dry. The 250 SHO holds about 7 quarts of oil, while the Opti has the oil tank and plumbing. I know you mentioned a 225 but think they're close, as well. The SHO''s definitely look heavier but have a lot of composite parts to lighten them up.

LL.....I was thinking the same, I put 50$ in my boat each day of the classic this weekend along with 100$ in the truck and both were on empty upon returning to dalton Sunday afternoon. I hate oil companies.

A 250 on a Phoenix 921 (21'-6") Also a 26" Mercury Fury Prop

Thats not bad at all on a big boat like that. I'm planning on a 19' with a 225. So overall have you been pleased with the motor?

Yes Derek, I've been very pleased with the motor. The SHO motors love to have the piss, run out of them, just like the 2 strokes and that is something my brain had to get used to because it doesn't seem right.

I totally agree with beetlespin on boat setup, being very important. Total weight and balance (weight distribution) makes a very big difference in performance and handling.

Here's the biggie: When you fish out of a 4 stroke boat, you realize why there's a big push to do away with 2 strokes. You can smell the 2 strokes for 5 minutes, on a windy day, after they go by. I can almost tell you what type of motor you're running by the smell. Optimax is by far the cleanest smelling motor but still has a slight burnt oil smell. When you fish out of a Mercury EFI or Yamaha OX66 motor, you get used to the smell and don't realized, how strong it is. Remember, 2 strokes have some powerful enemies but I'm not one of them. I still love the sound of 250XB or one of the lil' screamers on a Bullet slapping the hell out of the lake as it flies by.

I need to talk to Kite or Coleman, I think they are both running SHO's on Bullets, It just seems like a heavy motor on a light boat, they both seem happy with them and I bet they will flat out haul some water.

Try talking to Robbie McGill if you want to fly with a sho on a bullet I am pretty sure he said he was running in the low 90s with his rig
