It doesn't slowed down how often I go....but....We plan where we're gong to fish and drive to a closer ramp. ...We are also fishing at Nick and Chick. a lot more and not out of town trips. ....Long runs are out of the ???? ....it just cost to much for long runs......When having to fish a tournament from a certain ramp we plan our fishing day out a lot better than we use to.....

I fill for the one's this week end on Chick. who are planning to lock thur and go all the was to Nick dam. ...they need to win or have deep pockets

If you have been on the water in the last couple of weekends you have probably noticed it has not affected the Yachts and Houseboats very much. As prices continue to rise lower and fixed income families are affected at a far greater percentage.

EXCELLENT point. Funny how that works now in the good ole U.S. of A. these days. The middle class and poor keep getting squeezed and the rich are getting richer.

Will be interesting to see if the serious tournament fisherman start downsizing. The last couple of years the 21 footers with 250+HP have been pretty common - it's got to hurt running those things around and getting 3 miles per gallon or less. I cracked my 200HP Merc wide open twice this year and both times it was for about 30 seconds - the past couple of years I run around at 3500 to 4000rpm and even then the gas gauge goes down way too fast. What really sucks is the price of diesel for my pickup as I do a lot of towing around to the various lakes - three weeks ago in Knoxville it was $2.65 - I've watched it go up every day and now the cheapest place in town is $3.17. If it's any consolation I talked to my buddy back in Washington and they are nearing 4 bucks a gallon for diesel...

I have a 225 pro xs on and I wouldn't consider downsizing. My boat has to be getting 4-6mpg.if I don't run wot its amazing. Of course I run wot quite a bit.

BS

I don't have a boat so I don't have to worry about whether or not I can afford to fish. But I do have a car ... and I'm seriously thinking. Mayor Littlefield wants to build this rapid transit system to Atlanta and here I am driving to work every day from Harrison to downtown Chattanooga and gas this morning .. was $3.06 a GALLON. My thoughts are the Mayor better figure out how he's going to get me from Harrison to Chattanooga if he wants me to continue being a liable member of society!

Heck with getting me to Atlanta ... I need to figure out how to get to work locally. If things keep up ... there will be money left in my budget for anything but bare necessities!!!

TT

TT, the 3rd generation Toyota Prius will be out within a year and it is thought to be able to
achieve 100 mpg. I am definitly getting one because I drive so much.

Things are going to get real serious real quick in this country. Gas will hit $4 a gallon or better by spring. That in turn is going to drive up costs on everything to produce, manufacture and tranport. China will benifit the most because they will be selling things cheap to folks in the US who can't afford to buy American made. That in turn will make them consume more gas and drive the price up. The drought is also killing us, making the price of food products go up and up and us having to import more and more, which costs extra fuel. As I said before, the impact on average fishermen is going to be felt a lot more as time goes by. Looks like the trolling motor is going to really earn it's money this year.

try buying desiel at 3.30 a gallon at about 750.00 to fill my 18 wheeler up that sucks

i have aprocraft pro 175 with a 125merc get good milage and fair speed wot is around 58 by blazers gps but it still hurts to fill up that 25 gallon tank i think it does better when i blast off slow thin trim hi with less thortle seams to save on gas

Dont feel too bad. I was in Key West last week and talked to a Shrimp boat Capt who's paying $4.50 / gal and averages $100,000 a year just in fuel costs. Thats alot of shrimp he has to catch just to pay for diesel. Not to mention the Carribean nations that get fuel from Hugo Chavez for pennies and then ship their seafood here for a lower price than our nations fishermen can. Those guys are really hurting.
