Definitely, I have been fishing mainly on the Chick because Chestor Frost is 3 miles from my house. I would love to fish some of the other lakes in TN, and really want to get down to carters, and Wiess lakes but with a big V8 towin a boat the cost is way to much. Last time I checked my gas milage pullin the boat it was 13 mpg. I have also not been stoppin for breakfest and coffee etc. it seems to have been helping .

Not much yet.. then again, the motor is only a 65 Mercury.. got it out the other day to give the motor a good run.. spent about 2 hours out there, with the motor running for most of that time.. still plenty of gas to go again. emoLaugh

My hauling truck is just a Ford Ranger too, so at least for right now I'm not really feeling a pinch. You know summer is approaching when the gas starts climbin!

Yes, definitely, especially since I prefer to fish down toward Nick and the G. My truck is diesel and the cheapest place in Knoxville is now $3.71/gallon, almost 70 cents a gallon more than regular unleaded, someone explain that one to me!? emoScratch I was dying to get down to the Nick yesterday but the reason I didn't was just that - it would be over a $100 trip for me to get down there and back for a 1-day fishing trip.

That's what we get for electing a rich oil dictator (er, republican) - second term is almost over, nothing else to lose, hmmm - might as well jack up gas prices and make a fortune on the way out! emoDance

It has definatly slowed down my fishing. With a diesel truck and a 1 year old baby i have been having to re use toliet paper and re dip my snuff.

It hasn't slowed me down yet but it is hurting our checking account pretty bad. I'm fortunate that my Allison with 250 XS gets a shade over 5 mpg at 72 mph and that 70-75 range is where I normally run it. My truck gets about 12mpg towing though. Especially since they started putting that stupid ethanol in gas. People don't know it but ethanol doesn't produce as much energy per gallon as gas so efficiency goes down.

Yeah, the Allisons paired with the new technology motors are sweet on the gas mileage! I hear you on the ethanol as well, that stuff is junk. For the first time I noticed this morning at one of the Pilots here in Knoxville they are advertising 85% ethanol at $2.59/gallon (compared to regular unleaded at $3.17/gallon, and of course diesel at $3.83/gallon).

The gas prices aren't hurting me, I still fish 3 or 4 day a week. I'm not worried about running 30 mile to catch some fish if they are the winning fish. I started to fish in one area more then running and gunning.
