According to investigators, the owner of a boat found drifting in the Tennessee River Wednesday night was located unharmed.
Boating Investigator David Holt with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said they determined that the owner had tied the boat up to a dock near Ross’s Landing and “walked to a bar downtown.” He said the boat apparently broke away or came untied while the owner was away.
No one was injured and no charges were filed.
In Tennessee, boats, just like cars, are required to be registered. In most cases investigators can identify and/or locate owners via the registration or via the manufacturers identification numbers on the vessel.
