great white bass morning on the chick 7-22-2006

Ya'll we had one of the best fishing days ever yesterday. We went to the nuke hoping to get in on the striper/white bass jump. Man did we ever. We loaded the cooler with 1 to 1-1/2 pound white bass. They ate Little Georges,Rooster Tails and spoons.The bite stayed hot until nearly noon. They would jump about every 20 to 22 minutes. In between the jumps we managed to catch about 20 blue cats. Most of them were small but we did catch 6 fish over 5 pounds on the jello/garlic hotdogs and shrimp.
There was a couple guys fishing real close to us for whites and saw me bait up with the shrimp. The driver said he never saw anybody do any good with shrimp. I lowered the bait to the bottom and engaged the reel only to reel up a 6-1/2 pound blue. I guess his opinion changed.

Wow, that sounds like a blast. Big whites are lots of fun and pull as good or better than any fish their size. They tend to really hit hard. Were there "boils" in the discharge at Sequoiah?

Yes polo,that's where we caught them. The boils were not as strong as I have seen them in the past but they were present. Mucho fun catching white bass on light and ultralight tackle.
Anyone can catch them on weed eater cord but hookup a 1 pound plus white on 2# line and hang on
