Beware of camping at Harrison Bay State Park. I had all my fishing gear stolen from my campsite and boat Tuesday last week. I lost over $2500 in equipment and another camper got took for $3,000. Being retired it has really put a cramp in my fishing. ??

I live on the lake right outside of Chester frost and they hit 5 docks in our neighborhood and got away with some high dollar fishing gear.

I hate a thief. You should post up what some of the stuff is. That way if anyone sees someone selling a few items that match then it could be them.

Be sure and check pawn shops also. Like camaro88z said post color boxes or bags and any combos so others can watch for you. Nothing worse than a thief. I had my boat on the back side of my dock a few weeks ago and a fisherman was fishing the docks at 5:30 am just as daylight was breaking. Luckily my neighbor was having his early coffee and said he was doing more looking than fishing. He got on the his fishing when my neighbors screen door creak sounded. I had left two rods on the deck and the depth finders were there. He could have been just looking at the setup. But, made me think I better put everything away and lock it up. Another reason for the boat insurance with contents coverage. I know I would hate to think about having to replace my stuff some would be impossible.

it is a shame that a person cannot enjoy their self without worrying about having something taken by foolish low lives. i will keep an eye and ear out. hope you get your property back.

It wouldn't matter if they did lock the gate a thief will come will find a way by boat if not by foot. Some people work harder at stealing than most do at a job. Especially if drugs are the motive. I'm putting a game camera next to my dock just in case it does happen at least I might get the opportunity to post their pic.
You do need to file a report if you didn't already because police can scan the pawn databases now. Because they set in the back for however many days for the person to pay the pawn before they hit the floor for sale.

Thanks guys for the support. I did file a police report and also with my insurance company.

Like camaro said, post up a list of what all was stolen. Maybe if someone sees a lot of this being sold together in a flea market, roadside or online we could help you find it easier. Their are a lot if eyes here that could help you keep an eye out for it. And if they are selling it at a deal (witch they probably will) it won't take them long to dump it. Be as specific as you can remember. If you happen to have any pics of anything custom that was stolen send me a pic and I will post them for you. Good luck

Not sure how to attach pictures but the hard tackle box was white on top with green body. It had a clear side compartment on each side of top. Front drops down and has three plastic lure box’s inside. On front at each side there was a clear compartment, one had sinkers and the other had hooks.
Most of my fishing lures were geared to stripper fishing and included six or eight husky jerks and long billed deep run crank baits. It also included several lucky thirteens, jitterbugs, red fin and Storm Hot-In-Tots. There were several seven in stripper lures, one of which was white with a red head and long metal bill.
In the lid there were several home made spinner and buzz baits. I also had a home made plug knocker made from steel pipe with lead core.
My reel was an Ambassador 6500C3 with green line, it has a bait clicker button on the left side with green line.

For sure if it is just left out it will get stolen - ANYWHERE! You're best bet is not to leave it unsecured but in today's world that is no guarantee.

you can always do what the banks do with money transfers?, a tackle box with not so valuable gear inside, purple dye under pressure will identify any crook, but is it legal?, to catch a thief? maybe you need to think like one emoBang

Good suggestions. Sad but I think I’ll just lock everything up in my truck. As a hunter I have several trail cameras and I’ll deploy them too. I’ve got another week scheduled at HB this year and I’ll deploy the cameras and see what happens.
Good news is I’ve replenished enough lures to allow me to get back on the water.
