I here about and read about having a prop worked. What is involved in this process ? What are the benefits of having your prop worked ?
Thanks

Smooth it out and get all the dinks out of it. Smooth the edges and check the angle. The boat may run better and faster if you prop is bad.

It's a raker. The prop looks good. I was wondering if I would see any improvement by having it worked.

well there are a few benefits: how it looks, usually any welding or repair needed is finished off with a refinish, whether polishing, sanding, blasting or whatever. How it performs, it can make a noticeable change in handling, fuel economy, speed, hole shot, etc. Also, if any of the blades are out of pitch, this can cause premature wear to your lower unit seals and bearings, due to vibration. Your prop is where the proverbial "rubber meets the road". want to drive around on bald, unbalanced tires?

Second that on a fury ,don't touch it and if you sandblast it ,or take off in shallow water as its known,it's gone

Are there any shops local that work props ? What is the going rate to have a prop worked ? Thanks for all the responses.

Only 2 prop shops within hundreds of miles and both are in Soddy Tenn, Performance Propeller and also Dans Prop Shop. You can call and get an estimate and probably could email or text them a pic to get an estimate.

had mine done by a guy named billy I believe(in a white plaza in sail creek). Made my raker look brand new. This thing was BAAAAD! I struck a large log, big enough to bend my V6 prop shaft, put two of the blades waaaay out of pitch. It was old and dirty and just plain looked like junk, didn't belong on a boat. He put it on the pitch block, added material to the leading edge and polished it to a mirror finish, for $80....WOW!!!!
