Only had 8 boats Friday night I guess the rain was to blame for that.
First place winners were Azel Burrows and Tony Rogers with14.30 and they also had big fish with a 7.29 kicker.
Second place winners were Tim and Mina Long with 10.77.

We had a great crowd show up Saturday night. We had a total of 23 boats. There was another tournament at the same ramp that weighed in at the same time so the end of the night got interesting but everyone did a good job and managed to load up without any issues that I know of.
First place winners were Earl Westbrook and Nathan Osborne with 13.22
Second place went to Azel Burrows by himself with 12.00
Third place winners were Robbie McGill and Wade Kilgore with 11.61
Fourth place winners were Tony Rogers and Andrew Bunch with 11.28 and they also had big fish with a 7.68 kicker.
On a side note the other tournament that I mentioned weighed in 5 fish again and there were some nice ones weighed in. I'd like to publicly thank Steven Hall and Nathan Osborne and Tim Long and the others that stayed to help fish that obviously needed fizzing after being released. We did what we could and I'm sure several had a much better chance at survival when it was all said and done.

That's a really good turnout! Glad you guys stayed after for the fish. It's easy to just go home at that time of night when you are worn out and over it all.

KUDOS to you guys for staying behind to take care of the fish that others carelessly left to die!!! it still shocks me that guys will just walk away from a fish that is on its side or belly up in the water, that fish will die. those fish can not right themselves or equalize their air bladders before they wear themselves out and die.

... and guys show up with no ice, no chemicals, nothing. Then they just toss the fish in the hot live well and expect the circulator (if it works) to sustain the fish. Then they finally get through with the weigh in only to jerk the fish out again to take pictures for several minutes. After which that they toss the fish back into the lake at the water's edge where the water is at it's shallowest point instead of taking them to the end of the ramp where it has deeper water! Then they are through and never look back to check on the possible floaters that may need help and they go home. Their work in done!

That group is famous for this....sad, as much knowledge available to prevent fish mortality and still some people can't take a few extra minutes to make sure they swim away when the night is over.

I pre fished for that sat night tournament on Friday night. We came in at 4:30 sat morning and fizzed three fish over 5 lbs that were floating in their side. All fish swam off in good shape. It's amazing that guys don't know how or don't take the time to take care of fish they have caught.

It's S&K out of Chattsworth . It's like that every time they have a tournament in the summer months. No matter what lake they go to . I've witnessed it several times .

has anyone talked with them or twra about it?

They are definitely giving tourneys a black eye when they leave! I pulled into the ramp at 11:30 after a morning trip Sun. & counted 6 dead next to the dock. 3 different non-fisherpersons near the ramp commented about the dead bass & " I thought they were supposed to release them alive!" At least take the fish that aren't going to make it & filet them for someone!

Kenneth from S&K emphatically denies that they were responsible for any dead fish being left behind. He stated they have a cooler for all dead fish and all his club members are comfortable "deflating" fish because they fish carter's lake where fish are routinely caught 40-50'. i thanked him for his time and taking care of the resource.

His emphatic denial doesn't change what we witnessed. People were bringing five fish to the water's edge by hand for a photo shoot and then chunking them in. Our weigh-in had barely begun by the time they concluded and there were already three solid fish struggling on their side in the shallows prior to the release of any HBNS fish. It was a blatant disregard for the wellbeing of the fish.</p>

Not to mention the one that was dropped on the ground and stomped by foot a couple times while the guy was trying to pick it back up lol

They weighed in behind us one night last summer as well. I overheard several of the guys complaining about fish dying on them that night too. It looked like a crime scene the next day.

im not disputing anyone's claims, he claimed they picked up some of your fish, lol. i just hope all this discussion about taking care of fish encourages everyone to do more/better for the fish and lake. im a relatively new guy to the lake but its awesome and i'd hate to see it fall off because we didnt take care of the fish. i came from a place where it used to take 20+ to even sniff a check in a tournament, years later and 3-5 tournaments a week and now a 4lber is a big fish. as tournament fisherman we target the bigger fish, they are more fragile in a livewell than smaller fish. if they die so do their genes which means less big fish down the line..........

and before someone says "you cant hurt the population of fish on this lake" guess again! all you have to do is go to any community hole in may when they first get out there and then go back in july............
