Greetings from freezing cold Minnespota,

I am coming down to Chattanooga in mid January for some work-related stuff and am hoping to add a day or two to the trip to get out and shoot a hog. Are they enough of a problem yet that land owners are allowing access without a lease, or would I need to plan to pay a few $ for the chance to get out? Anyone have any leads?

Thanks a lot!

Kevin

i dont know of any hogs around, or hog problems. but cumberland platue up around crossville has advertised hunts for $100. hope any of this helps?

You'll have to pay for a guided hunt or spend a lot of time in Cherokee national Forrest with some dogs.

I did a search and couldn't find any of these... Do you have a link? I'd like to find something like this to take my kid on and not spend a fortune.

Thanks,

Jon

If you want to just have some fun, look up Mann Mountain Hunting in Guntersville, Al. They are in an enclosure, but if you want to hunt with handguns, or bows, you cant beat it. Price is by the pound after the kill. You can have some fun stalking around there.

Sylco campground in the Cherokee National Forrest (60 miles from Chattanooga) is feral/wild hog heaven. I have seen 40 or 50 sows and little ones at a time.

They constantly work the fields along Sylco Creek from the campground to the lake.

Best chance is to work the ridge east of the creek and watch fields below (probably not a "day trip" if you're pushed for time).
