Got off work at 330 and met Jason at WT about 410 and HOLY CRAP was it windy! All I've heard is how tough the bite has been and then we got 100 mph gusts and a near 30 degree temp swing overnight. :( This was gonna suck but we decided to make the best of our free time and give it a shot. We ran a short distance from the bridge and started fishing a grass flat sitting in 8 FOW and throwing into the grass edge. Jason started out with a spinnerbait and I still had a little squarebill tied on from my last trip so I tried it out. My first fish was a 4.5 lb that could have weighed about 6 if he had a belly like the rest of our fish. Long story short, my trolling motor got all the work it wanted and the bite was actually on pretty good. We went to another spot after a while where I thought the wind would be calmer emoBang WRONG! We did find some fish in rocks just after a drop from 10 to 18 FOW and there were fish there. The only non-keepers we caught were a yellow perch and a small channell cat. Our best five would have pushed 19 to 20 lbs with my biggest a little over 4 and Jason caught one on a worm that was 6lbs easily and all the rest between 3 to 4 lbs and FAT. These fish were there to eat ond that was all. Water temps were 62 to 65 and wind gusts out of the north and west were rough but it helped the bite at least. I took one pic of Jasons fish on his phone maybe he'll upload it. Left at 730 and it was still windy. These guys may not have as bad a weekend fishing as we thought ;)

I'll have to be honest...when I stepped out of the truck at the ramp, I had a feeling we were wasting our time. However, the Chick proved me wrong and we had an awesome 4 hours on the water. Weather sucked but the bite did not, lol.

Great Photo, thanks for the report Hook1 would have liked to been there on the side lines, good going guy's

I'm guessing the sudden drop in temps must have finally kicked the fish into a fall/ winter feeding mode. I also have to add that the cell phone pic doesn't do this fish justice. You really can't tell just how fat that thing was. emoBang I saw it in the water by the boat and thought 4 lber. Jason decided to flip it in and it actually almost got stuck on the side of the boat! emoLaugh We couldn't believe the girth on the fish. Real nice.

Hook1, I am glad to see you get Jason out with a picture of a fish. He usually has a bunch of pictures with him holding big'uns by now. Been missing that this year. Good job guys. emoThumbsup Jmax

I think he's got a few too many from the back of my boat to be honest emoLaugh Unfortunately, I have to work lots of weekends now so I havent fished as much as last year and that means Jason hasent got as many opprotunities either. He's good at sneaking in a big one or two from the back isn't he?

Oh I can't wait either. You guys did a great job and in those condititions a lot of people wouldn't dare to try! That's what seperates the men from the boys. Ready to go? Lets go fishnboy you know this is when I shine! Let me shine. I'm ready when you are. emoPoke emoPlease
