I have seen fish bedding and caught fish off the beds in July on Old Hickory lake. I think that bigger fish have a hard time laying out. Although the water temp on the upper end in the river is much cooler than the creeks there. The water coming from the depths of Cordell Hull are 70 ish. I think there is something to what yall said about compitition for bedding areas too.

I have to verify the bedding fish on Old Hickory, I grew up on that lake and fished it a ton. I have actually caught bedding fish up river from the steam plant as late as mid july. Fluctuating water depth and temperature due to generation screws some of the fish up and they have to regroup and get all there eggs back in one basket.emoCool

Old Hickory is cooled by the cold water coming from the Stones and the Caney Fork Rivers. I lived spitting distance from the lake my last year of college and I absolutely loved it! Where ya from Webfoot? I lived in Mt. Juliet on Cedar Creek and worked in Lebanon, Graduated from MTSU. I really miss the hunting and fishing in Middle TN!

OK , I'm confused . I've just started bass fishing and was reading this post and I'm at a duhhhh. I plan on fishing Sat. at the CFF8 and have never been to Guntersville . I know my son and I will probably get smoked , but I'm in it for the fun and knowledge building. Reading this post , my knowledge building aspects has risen , I think, lol.
