I scratch my head every day trying to understand how myslefand my neighbor, friend, co-worker, fishing buddy can have 180 degree difference in views in politics, and social issues.

Take for example, the recent CNN poll, http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/01/12/rel1b.pdfHALF of Americans think Obama has done a great job, the other HALF, think hes been a failure. How can this be? How has the country been so evenly divided in thier beliefs, and views? I truly would love to understand. emoPlease

Hmmmmm...did you say DICTATOR? Like what healthcare YOU will have. Censoring news channels. Telling you to share your wealth? Ya mean that kind of dictator? Just asking?

I try to stay out of this stuff but the one thing I see as common to most critics is their short memories ! Let`s think back just a little over a year ago. Without exception the consensus was the world economy was going down the tubes faster than anybody could react to stop it. Much in the same manner of the going to" war in Iraq " was sold to us several years earlier....we and the world reacted with a hastily constucted plan to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible. This was done with Republicans and Democrats at least in agreement that we need to do something NOW even if they didn`t always agree in every detail.
Now a year later with e bleeding at least slowed to a degree where we can plan in somewhat of an orderly fashion we have reverted to our normal partisan bickering . It`s easy to look back and point out the mistakes and choose sides and argue. But it was pretty much a bipartisan effort at that time. Remember Obama wasn`t even the Prez a year ago.
Now everybody wants to say well " I told you this or that then"........the best minds in the world had no real clue about what might happen at the time.

If the quote best minds in the world had of looked to history they would have known that the world economy goes in cycles and that gov't action mostly negatively affects or slows the recovery. The economy would have naturally recovered. Instead we have indebted our grandchildren without much to show for it. We have also lost many individual freedoms in the process. It may have been done with bi-partisanship but the action was abhorrently wrong.

I`m pretty sure the experts are aware of history.......But now I see where they erred in their decisions.......they didn`t consult with you SniperChoke. I`m sure you could have enlightened them.

Now while you`re at it...... how about spelling out the individual freedoms we`ve been robbed of in the last year !

And be specific !!! none of this mumbo jumbo about how the deficit is robbing us of this and that ...

When you get done with that long list...spell out the stuff that was taken away in the name ofPatriotism and Terrorism in the last decade...

Well let me start, since I have been called out.
1. Gov't takeover of financial system.
2. Gov't takeover of largest company in world i.e. G.M.
3. Gov't takeover of healthcare system not yet but probably will.
4. Gov't forcing citizens to buy products from private companies i.e. mandatory insurance.
5. Gov't control of salary
6. Gov't control of bonuses
7. Gov't giving terrorist same rights as American citizen doesn't protect me or my family.
8. Gov't closing gitmo and releasing terrorist to fight us again doesn't protect me or my family.

Next here are the things taken away in the name of patriotism.
1. Privacy of overseas phone conversations
2. You get frisked more if you fly especially if your a 78 year old lady. Undie bomber just walks right in.

I'm not trying to start a fight. You should just make educated arguments.

Snipe, are you gonna answer Snuffy's question or not? He told you to leave out the mombo jumbo.

name the specific laws and nobody made Gm agree to be bailed out ...they could have walked away. No restrictions at my bank. No changes in insurance yet. If you`ve read the papers (commie pinko lib rags or not) they`re still paying bonuses. They`re terroristtssssss (as W would say) after they are convicted. and the one that have come back to haunt us were released by Bush
I`ll admit I`m a product of a Public Education system....but I don`t have to have Rush and Glenn to tell me what to think

Sniperchoke is correct and any neutral observer can see it. Most of this done in one year as well which is really scary. I'm not taking sides but the items listed are painfully obvious.

Who was president 1 year ago, Bush, who was President 50 1/2 weeks ago, Obama. Oh what a difference 2 weeks makes.
politicians take care of who put them in office, first. So now can you see the big picture, or do you need a 3 x 9 varible?
Come on guys, the people we have eleced turned on us as far as what direction we believe the USA should be going and that's down the drain.
Acorn; 90% of who they signed up to register for vote, voted Denocrat ticket, the only reason it wasn't 100% is that 10% couldn't read.
Unions; 70% of the membership voted Democratic ticket.
Welfare recipents; 99 % voted Democratic ticket
Clinton was more or less pressured to sign the "Fair Lending Law" for equal housing by Barny Frank, Fanny Mae/Freddie Mac, which brought the housing market to it's knees, thus the banking industry, contractors, building materials, 401 K's etc.
The "Dotcom" bubble brought the economy down when Bush took office. It was greed, but not to mention the Democrat contol of both houses.
The Federal Reserve just made a profit of $38 billion, and I don't hear any Dems wanting to put a "wind fall" tax on them,,ie; big oil, banks, etc. big oil made $32 billion.
It's not the Dems or Repubs, it's all of the above....You have got to elect leaders that agree with, and will up hold, the Constituion, Bill of Rights and the Decleration of Independance. Unjtil that happens, we are just a bunch of sheep, bleating and picking short grass, waiting to get sheared and then to slaughter.
Go to a Tea Party and see what they have to offer,,,go at least one time..Every one has time to run kids here and there to their sports actvities, fishing, hunting, but seem to NEVER have time to voice their opinions at a rally.
You will loose everything if you don't participate..WAKE UP AMERICANS..It's bigger than what you see on the evening news.
Vote for the person, not the PARTY " A government that is big enough to give you what you want is big enough to take it away" Can you name ONE enterprise that the governemnt has gotten into that has made a profit?,,,IRS

I think the answer here is fairly simple. Half the country wants to earn a living the best way they can with the least amount of government intervention. The other half wants the government to give them their living. The second half will give lip service to earning their own keep but their voting record and the way they live shows otherwise.

The really scary part of this equation is the the half that thinks the government should be their saviour is growing. Sooner or later this number will have the power to demand anything they want and get it. We are close to that right now. Also sooner rather than later the ones paying the bills for the ones with their hands out will be out of money.

When there is no money left I wonder what the government lovers will do then. emoScratch
