What kind of setup do you need to shiner fish. Had a couple of guys ask me how to pitch shiners. Do any of you know how?

I really like to Turkey hunt in the mountains of Eastern Ky on these cool spring mornings. Watching the sunrise and listening to the world come alive is a wonderful thing.

LOL....what??</p>

"Pitching" shiners, I suspect your talking about from a boat and around structure, docks, bluffs, etc?

Pretty simple really, get shiners, or shad, light line, sharp bait-style hooks. Attach bait to hook and pitch it to your desired location, and hold on. The bait does all the work, just let it swim. Good luck.

I use 7ft. med. light spinning combo with 10lb mono and Gamakatsu wide gap finesse hooks 2/0 or depending on bait size. Hook through the nosrtrils if large enough and if not through the eyes. I don't like the red hooks because I used them both for months last year and the plain ones seemed to do better for me but some swear by the red ones.

The lighter the line the better for smaller baits. Also, the less weight, the better. You simply can't avoid splitshot or a small egg sinker if there's too much flow, but if you want the most bites, you want a natural presentation.
