Here's some examples of screen images from the Side Image Sonar ...

Photo 1: Going under Hwy 58 at Wolftever (toward main lake), you can see the pilings and rip-rap on each side

Photo 2: Boat was paralleling Hwy 58, photo shows the old highway and whats left of the old bridge from before the lake was dammed. You can see several bait-balls and their sonar shadows

A couple more photos...

Photo 3: A different angle on the old bridge at Wolftever. You can see more of the old culverts on either side of the creek channel

Photo 4: Just a photo showing some stumps in a relatively shallow flat. You can see the stumps and stick-ups as well as their sonar shadows...

After seeing that you all can forget I even have a side scan. My old Hummingbird does not even come close to that awesome piece of equipment. Mine draws an image with big pixils that looks like fish and trees. However the unit here looks like an actual B&W photo with 3-D images. That is about as futuristic as I see fishing getting for many years to come.

Can you switch to either side and/or adjust the distance maximum? At a closer range does the image get even better?

Since you posted those awesome pics, can I request that you photo a typical bank with brush and fish showing while you are out in the near future I would love to see how it looks on your side scan as if you are trolling a bank at casting distance in search of Bass? Thank you so much for showing those images and making me sick. J/K on the sick part.

In this first pic I can now see the big log that my anchor was hung on. It is at the top of the pic right of the centerline. I actually moved that thing and bent my anchor on it.

Look at the details of the bases on the concrete posts for the bridges, That is an incredible image for a fishing sonar. I can see how that thing could be used to find that ladies car in Parksville lake.

One of the things I found amazing is how long the "prop wake" stays in water. You can see the prop wake in some of these photos. I have had boats go by, scanned about 2 minutes later...and you still see their wake. Kind of makes you wonder how it effects fish or how deep the wake actually goes...

is your transducer mounted on the transom or is shooting through the hull?
oh man i cant believe im even thinking about this but but..........
i dont know if i can get away with what i saw on the side image forum
"no dear you are mistaken ... that IS the same fish finder i had on the boat last year"

somebody PLEASE buy my old shadow so i can get one of these !!!!!!

The top left side of the 1st picture, whatever that is, theres a bunch of Silver Buddies attatched to it. Back in the winter during the CFF Frostbite tournament I know that Jmax, ChooChoo Snakeman, BBass and myself all lost at least 1each there. I guess I should say it looks like about the same spot.

Finding structure is amazing. Here is a stone wall in Watts Bar just north of the Shields Bar light. The second photo is a classic 2d shot showing just how tall this wall is. I figure it might be something left over from the flooding like a property boundary. Probably one of the best features is you can place a cursor on an item you see out to the side and the GPS then shows you where it is in relation to your current position. Kind of eliminates guessing. Don't anyone buy one until I get stock in Humminbird!

Lets try this again!

Looks like photo 2 and 3, along with bow vols description may explain what we were hanging on. The remains of the old bridge. Thats pretty cool stuff right there.

It's definitely sonar at the next level ! My sonar now seems about as sophisticated as a 2 transistor radio.emoSmile

Unreal. Thanks for sharing !

m17 - the transducer is mounted on the transom. Unfortunately the Side Image 'ducer can't shoot through the hull. The side image shoots a very narrow beam so it actually is shooting slices of surroundings and builds the image, you have to be going between 2 and 6 mph to get a decent image. Mine works best around 3 mph. With the steps on the back of my Javelin it doesn't see "good" water at speed so I can't get any thing at high speed. I'm going to end up having to buy a switch and put another puck in to shoot through the hull for high-speed.

My problem now is that I spend more time looking than I do fishing...
