Great News

Thanks

After installing the updates it took me a while to find the setting to change the readout.

Go to the Sonar tab then scroll down to SI Readout

Downloaded the update yesterday, and tried to install on my 998. Restored to defaults before starting download. Answered affirmative to download confirmation pop-up, then got a confirmation to abort pop-up???? Before I could respond in the negative, unit shut down. Now unit will not stay on longer than a few seconds before shutting down. WTF????

is there anything for the 798c?i bought this unit about a year ago and haven't did any looking for updates.

Glad I read the post from flipper-I was about ready to download and install this. Think I will wait until I hear a little more about it.

Just installed mine about an hour ago and it worked fine. No problems at all, took around 15 seconds to install.

All Updates you answer yes to update by hitting right arrow then asks to abort hit left arrow and then let unit do it's thing.

Do not interrupt during update process.

If it did not take try loading old software version and see if it takes then upload new update.

If that doesn't work HB Customer Can help to get software reset call 800-633-1468

798c got waypoint management last fall so check your account for latest version number and compare against the units current software.

Just got off phone with HB Service. I have to send unit in. Cross our fingers.

Humminbird response on Facebook for Legacy Models:

The 997 will receive another software update in approximately one month that will include as many of the 2012 software upgrades as the unit can handle. While we try hard to include as many software updates as possible on older units it must be understood that processor power and memory space in older units are limited and as we add more features the required space for larger more complex software can’t be accommodated by the hardware in the older units. When we reach this point on a unit we have no choice but to stop doing software updates for that unit. Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer service team at [email protected]

Hey guys-I'm downloading the update to SD & computer now-did it take very long? I know it doesn't take very long to update to the unit from the card, just wondering about from the web to the card. There is nothing on the screen showing if it's even working.

Hey, I got my HB998cSIHD back from Eufaula this morning. Great service!!!

Something I'm confused about is that they said there was nothing wrong with it; they just installed the update. So if there was nothing wrong with it, why wouldn't it stay on, and why did I spend $31 to ship it to them?

Not complaining; Just wondering. emoScratch

Glad you got it back so quick! Would you mind telling me how long it took you to download the update?

IF you look on the Drive with the SD Card do you see a .Bin File?

Black Arrow points to the Humminbird PC Program Software for your computer that will help manage waypoints, tracks and routes plus can convert competitor GPS Data to Humminbird format.

Red Arrow son to xtf is conversion software if you use a 3rd Party Sonar Recording viewer on your computer like SIview to get the recordings to be viewable

Blue Arrow is a son to xtf conversion software if you are running Windows Vista on your computer.

Green Arrow - this is the current software update for your unit. You download this to an SD card and insert in your unit and it will update to the current features and software version. The most current version features all past updates in the single file so you only need to update this version to get all the features.

Thanks Doug-I clicked on 998c, got a screen with 2 boxes at the bottom. One said "download" this is the one I clicked. I saw a green arrow on the left side of my screen go down, then just back to the screen you show on this post. Nothing showing if it is loading to the SD card.

Don't sound like it downloaded. You should be able to click and then save to the SD Card.

Are you using Internet Explorer? Because Mozilla doesn't allow saving direct to the card for me.
