But that being said Ive read that hummingbird is having a lot of issues with there new onyx. Ive seen a lot of crap on BBC on the HB forums.

Really??? I've been running ONIX and not seeing anything but the most awesome images I have ever seen. Running the latest software has added lots and lots of more features. Like Auto Chart LIVE you can build custom mapping on the ONIX.

What's wrong with these ONIX images??? Have you ever used one???

Here is some Lowrance touch and GEN 2 8 sceenshots

Azel runs HB. I got used to them when fishing with him, so when I bought mine, I got HB. If HB is good enough for him, its good enough for me. It's the same thread over and over. HB vs Low, ford vs Chevy, Merc vs Rudes.......... and on and on. Bottom line is you will spend nearly the same money to get the same capabilities.

I agree with Flipper. Same ol same ol question. I run H Birds and will continue to do so due to the Customer Service policies and actions by Lowrance. Several years back I went through 6 weeks of pure hell arguing with Lowrance. I cracked the screen on my unit and overnighted it to them at a cost of $17.00. It took them 5 days with me calling each day to finally admit that they received it even though I had the confirmation. This was a LMS 480 black and white unit. When they finally found the unit and explained to me that the repair charge was going to be a flat fee of $200.00 and that they would send me a replacement unit. The LMS 480 at the time, new cost about $549.00 if I remember correctly. I asked if I could pay the difference and get the LMS 580 color unit. I was told no that they couldn't do that. So after arguing again for two days with about three different higher ups trying to purchase the color model, I finally gave in and said just send me back my unit. It's now been about 8 days without the unit. Five days later, I did receive the new replacement unit. Hooked it up and it would not power up!? So I called Lowrance up again and told them the situation. They were very nonchalant and non caring. They told me to send it back to them. So I paid another $17.00 to overnight the dead unit back to them. Another week goes by before they acknowledged that they had indeed received the unit. 5 days later I received the replacement. It would not power up either! I went to a friend on mine and took his unit off of his boat and hooked it up on mine boat. Guess what? It worked! So now I go through the same thing and start all over again with Lowrance. I asked again to pay the difference for the color unit and was told again no. I explained that I was without my graph all this time and it was basically their fault and they should make some type of concession. They told me no. I asked then since this was all their fault at least they could overnight the replacement back to me since I had paid to overnight to them twice. They told me no. So about another 5 days later I did receive a unit that would power up. But guess what? They did not transfer any of my data to the new replacement unit. But at least I had a graph that would work! After that I said never again would I have another Lowrance product!
I know that this has been long but I do have to say this about Humminbird. I had a small problem with some adjustments once and called them to ask what to do. I was given trouble shooting instructions by some very nice gentleman and told to try that first. He then gave me his personal cell phone number and told me if that procedure didn't work correctly to call him when I was out on the water that Saturday!? Now that's Customer service!
