Hunting lease

I was told by the owner that no one in the club has hunted it for two years now. He said that his workers have seen a very large ten point crossing the road a couple times near the entrance gate. I talked to one of the workers yesterday and he did say he personally has seen several hogs and deer but no big horns he knows of. I would be afraid to trail blaze there too much, you might go right over a cliff. The other thing I find discouraging in that track is if you hit one that ran no telling where it would go and how you would get it up those hills.emoDoh If I hunt that area I am going to wait for either muzzle or gun season.emoBigsmile Jmax

Sounds like the type of place that grows big bucks, most people are scared away by the topography which gives the bucks the time needed to grow big horns. I love hunting stuff like this, and am quite used to it. I have had to pack a deer out of the mountains more than once! Put him into quarters and start hiking! The other aspect is that usually in tough terrain the travel routes are easily found as the deer are going to take the path of least resistance.

Hey churly, can you PM the info to me, as well? My brother, father and myself may be interested.</p>

Cant wait to see if yall had any luck this weekend.

I got tied up and didn't get to go today.emoBawl Turned out Churly could not go there either so we are going to try again later. I am planning on going Monday so I hope that if there were several other hunters out this weekend there they will be gone by Monday.emoDance Jmax

I may be interested for this season. Let me know the details and I will get back with you. I never hunted turkey but would like to try hogs would be a plus.

Thanks,

I really like the Grundy and Marion County areas. I never saw another hunter on the property and even called to make sure I was in the right place. I was told I was the only one hunting it that he knew of. The farms were very heavily hunted but there was some nice deer killed on them. Too many hunter for me. The main property up by Shirly is 8,000 acres but I never made it up there during the season. I plan to go 4 wheeler riding on it this summer. It has all kinds of trails, cabins you can rent, a club house and a pavilion. I will be re-joining next year. With 32,000 acres that is just too good of a deal.emoThumbsup Jmax

Its a good deal for the price, but its like anywhere else you have to get away from the crowds and put in the time and you should find some good hunting.

First time I have seen this post. I have been on this lease for the past four years. I still have not seen all the land! I have killed a few on this lease but no huge bucks or anything. Like was mentioned by Churly and others, it is nice to have so many options for such a small price. I only hunted the property once this year due to having some other sweet spots, however, I will continue to join just to have access to all the property.;)
