Spent the night at my father-in-laws lakehouse last night to do some fishing. Got up this morning and walked down to the dock and low and behold it had been cleaned outemoAngry They got 1 of my rods and 3 of the FIL's. They also took my tackle box. Mind you, my tackle box is actually a tackle bag that contains EVERYTHING that I use for fishing, including crappie and catfish gear...well over $1000 worth of stuff. I am just sick to my stomach. Luckily, I had put all my bass rods in my truck for the night, but we've NEVER had problems with anything since we've had the place. If you are launching from Skull Island, the house is just the left as you enter the channel. It's a row of about 15 or so houses. As the police were pulling up, 3 other residents noted that they had been burglarized. One guy had his boat stereo ripped out and another had his houseboat broken into. If you have a house with lake access, BEWARE! Someone is floating around at night and ripping of anything of value. I filed a report and we're gonna talk to the insurance but I doubt anything will ever come of it. So now, I'm starting from scratch with fishing gearemoBadLanguage

Man, those idiots... hope they get caught and sent to jail.

Sorry thieves.....that's LOW. Hope your insurance takes care of it.

Gas theft is increasing by leaps and bounds, or anything a thief can sell to buy gas. I hope the law catches them.

man for some reason theives lurk around skull island seems like worse than anywhere else dont know if it is someone that lives close to there that watches the ramps and boats and just waits or what i have been down there several times and there would be shattered glass all over the lot where they had busted out windows i hvnt been there during the night in a long time i go during the day hopin maybe there would be enough traffic in and out to keep them away i guess they started slipping around the docks now to see what they can get i know what starting over from scratch is like to my house burnt to the ground last year with all my tackle and rods and reels in it you dont really realize how much money you got tied up in equipment till you have to replace it all

I'm sorry you had such bad luck. People say different precautions you take, which is a shame. You shouldn't have to worry about your stuff being stolen. YOU DON'T STEAL SOMEONE'S FISHING GEAR!

Let us know if you find anything out

I cannot stand thiefs. I hardly ever lock anything, and don't even think of stuff getting stolen until its too late, them i'm emoAngry .

Sorry about that, at least you probably know some stuff you don't need to rebuy.

Thanks for the bad luck reversal....I sure need it! And yeah, I probably shouldn't rebuy those helicopter lures emoLaugh

Let's be very careful to not wish any bad harm on those souls just because they are thieves and will rob you blind with no respect for what you have worked to acquire.

If we speak of giving them what they are due, surely this thread will be frozen.

It sounds as if Ya'll need an armed "Neighborhood Watch" who is informed enough to make
a citizens arrest, emoThumbsup Even if not, a kayak is mighty quiet, emoMad

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Maybe however it is will get caught and sever time. If i was you look around pawn shops and flea markets around the area. You might find some of your stuff there.

Sorry Corey that you were robbed. I don't know very many things I hate more than a THIEF. Like you I don't lock much up either but I'm thinking I should start. Skull Island ramp has several cars/trucks broken into recently I hear.emoSorry emoSorry emoSorry

hopefully they will be brought to justice!

The law in this town doesn't seem to care too much about theft though, heck that would involve a little work, heaven forbid they do more than just run a radar gun all shift..emoAngry

It is sad when someone would stoop so low as to steal someone's fishing gear. I live on the lake and have had fishing rods, tackle boxes, props, and even whole lower units stolen at night. I take almost all of my stuff up to the house at night and have a lock on my prop to keep them from stealing it. Many of you guys know where I live and if you see any shady looking folks at my dock, other than me of course, please ask them what they are doing there and if they don't give a good answer please tell them to leave. It's probably better to accidentally offend someone than to let theives get away with whatever they are looking for. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about it! Same thing happened to me in NY living on Delta Lake, they took everything but two rods I was respooling in the house. I was too young to know about insurance for all that equipment (probably couldn't afford it anyway), but my renters insurance did cover some...

keep your eyes out on ebay, craigslist, and local pawn shops.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

A plan that might work - Have the police hidden in the woods, but where they can watch Skull Island Parking lot without trouble. Place something valuable on top of a truck and see who "steals" it, then move in and arrest them!

Just a thought, someone may want to point that out... (Once the word is out that there has been an arrest, thefts will most likely slow down)
There has been some theft going on around the Parksville boat ramps too. Came up to the ramp around 11PM last night after a little night of fishing, there was a truck there that was parked then just sped off once we pulled up to the dock.
