35 Chicago winters under my belt. Yes if you can stand it the fish will bite year round in the great state of Tennessee. Get to learn the Cookeville/Sparta area now.

Chicago Brrrrrr! May as well live at the north pole. Tenn. does get ice on their lakes right? (Though in the last 10 years, half the time not ice not safe for ice fishing.)

you might find some ice around the banks in a few pockets or coves. You might even see a glaze of ice in the very back of pockets and coves but even then I have not seen that in this area in last 8+ years.

we moved back in 93 right after the blizzard. that winter we were ice skating in Chester Frost stump beds. might get a skim of ice every now and then but that year it got a couple of inches thick. Don't miss the thermometer hitting -20 with a 40 mph breeze!!!

I plan on fishing new years day. It's going to be chilly but I can't think of a better way to start my year off.

Think I will do exhibition at Bass Pro New years day in their tank to full fill my obligation of fishing New Years Day this year...any technique requested.......jmo emoAngler Not missed many.... emoGeezer emoUSA

Yea well, I'm gonna drive down to the lake below my home which is Old Hickory with a rod and reel and make about as many casts as I can before my guides freeze up on my rod and that will be my new years day outing but it will be fishing which I have done every year since I began fishing back many years ago. Only difference these days is I don't launch the boat to fish but I am still fishing...........
