Illegal to kill snakes?

Well, if you ever go to the E-room with a venomous snake bite, they are gonna request that you bring the snake with you so that *they* can positively ID said snake. I'll be damned if I'm gonna ride to town with a live copperhead in the car with me. Based on a true story. I should know; I've seen me do it.

Good info. Final message: Don't let a tree hugger see you protecting your own property. Sad state of affairs, if you ask me.

I do not recall saying or implying that I would not kill a venomous Snake where it endangered the immediate welfare of a Human. I have Killed many snakes and I have relocated as many... But I have allowed many times more to go on about their business. I simply use intelligence rather than fear as a guide.

I don't think anyone felt that you were; I certainly didn't. I was relating a personal experience I had two summers ago. I was bitten by a copperhead, rendered it unable to bite me again, and went to the ER. I knew it was a copperhead and identified it as such, but treatment was basically withheld until we could get someone to drive back to the house (30 min. one way)to get the snake and bring it back to the ER, so they could see it for themselves. I guess it's so they are sure they are administering the correct anti-venom, something I didn't get anyway.

I have been fascinated by snakes my whole life. As a kid in Florida, I had to pick up every snake I came across, poison or not....Yea, I havnt always been the brightest.

Now, I still pick them up, but I have sent a few to snake heaven when they are in my personal space and can kill me. The rest I play with and scare friends..LOL

... like I said Spur, it's all about common sense!

All Good Flipper. It was not just your Post.. I was reading back and it seemed that I was looking more like a Tree Hugger than I would desire to be based on my own comments... I don't get offended. I feel that anyone who posts on any controversial topic should be able to take the heat for expressing an opinion.... Never had a single worry from what you said.. But Thanks for clearing the air...

My snake had gotten in the garage and curled up in one of my shoes. I reached down to pick them up and *awakened* him/her. Hit me twice before I could even say "****!" over the first hit! I couldn't believe they wanted someone to go back and get him.
