In search of the World Record Flathead

how do they verify what you caught it on?seems like with the recent smallmouth record being in the news you could be setting yourself up for some serious frustration!do they require a witness in the boat with you?Also good luck!what a great story you will have when it happens and we'll all be able to say we knew you when......

If you go to the IGFA website you can see all the regulations associated with the filing for a world record. A witness would be nice but I tend to have to fish by myself 'cause I go just whenever I can. If I catch a record and they don't believe me, that's okay I guess but I plan to have all the "ducks in a row" as much as possible. I am interested in getting the record to show myself that I can catch a fish on light tackle like that, not to get my name in a record book.
