Fished the lower end of the Chick for the last two hours of the day with my brother Hook1. A strong west wind and a wet chop made it easy to rule out main-lake areas emoLaugh so we made a quick run to a protected cove that has produced well in the past. Although it was fairly calm on the flats in the back, we hauled water for the first hour emoBang. Turned the boat around and started hitting deeper stuff we passed on the way in and started getting bit. Picked up a solitary LM here and there on rocky transitions, break-lines or secondary points, all with a minimum depth of 7 - 8 feet. Fished our way out to the mouth and started graphing "lasagna" from 7 - 15 feet with an enormous amount of bait. Got into a frenzy for a few minutes and even doubled up before it simply shut down with a half-hour of daylight left. No takers on the trap today...all came on either the A-rig (Ramjack's w/out blades) or a jig.</p>
No picture-worthy hawgs to report, but all were quality 3lb or better fish...would have had a very solid sack for such a short amount of time. It's a testament to our fishery that I can't recall the last time I caught a slick emoThumbsup.
