I have a 1999 20 ft. javelin I bought at Jaco's marine and it had a 225 high output Johnson on it and I can't remember the size of the jack plate but with a little chop I gps 75 mph. then it blew up right before the warranty ran out and Cleveland boat center replaced it and I went back to jaco's and traded the Johnson for a 2003 225 efi mercury and 12" jack plate got me a 4 blade power tech prop and I got 76 mph on gps with it I don't know if this helps any but I do know you can run a lot faster than that. Oh I got my prop at the prop shop.

my power tech prop is a 4 blade with 26 pitch and my jack plate is 12" set back motor is mounted in top holes and I have it raised 3"s and it handles real good there lifts up good and walk a little but not bad. hope this helps.

I tried a 24 raker. I gained about 400 rpms and 3-4 with only myself in the boat. My other numbers have been with 2 people. I did find major gouge in the keel. It is about 3/4 wide and 3 foot long. Not sure what has caused that. Does anyone know a good fiberglass man? May be absorbing water and gaining weight like you mentioned.
