We had a great day and the weather could not have been any better. We fell short of a payday but we were in the hunt and one more good fish and we would have had a check. emoRolleyes Started shallow hitting spawning flats and had a limit within the first hour. emoThumbsup All on plastic, shallow, but nothing all that big. Put seven in the boat in our first place but never could catch but those three keepers. Once the sun got up our shallow bite died on us. We moved around a lot but could not find any big ones. A small cull here and there but the big bass would not play with us. Finally about 12:30 I got a hard hit and a nice one just over four came into the net. It took a shakey. Not too long after that I managed another cull with one right at 2/6. That gave us the 4/3, a 2/7 and the 2/6. We had culled a couple other two's with just an ounce here and there gained. I tried the spook off and on all day but never could get one to take it. Both James and I lost what felt to be good fish and we had a bunch of short bites. A couple times they got the worm. emoMad

Like I said, it is hard to complain about today with that much activity. I believe we ended up boating 22 bass and had 9 keepers. I think we were in 16th place with just a little over 9 lbs, paid ten places and tenth place was ten pound, Churly and Ramjack had it. Lots of fun for a short tournament. Maybe next time we can get that one more big one to get a check. emoBigsmile It was great to see everyone. emoThumbsup Jmax

I guess I might have to come out of retirement and help you catch some fish.

Those baby bass you three stooges caught would not have helped. emoPoke I guess I need to Colby along to catch a couple big ones. emoTongue Jmax

I thought for sure when you cut if front of me amd Wormy and went between us and the point you watched us fish that you would have caught that kicker you needed.

Were you two the guys on the outer point on the left side there at the park? We were running that route as you were coming in there. Sorry if you felt we cut you off. It was hard not to get in front of folks with so many boats. I could not decide which side to go around you on. I started once to swing way out and try to go around you on the outside but then you moved further out. :( When I got hung up right there on the inside that pretty much made up my mind for me. We kind of got trapped back in there with no where to go. Had to go in to get my bait back. You off that point, another boat coming up behind us and the boat crappie fishing in the pocket. You have to admit, you just about had to take a number in there, that was one reason we left, too many boats. emoBang Jmax

Hey Jim,

You said the fish were going shallow. Do you need me to show you how to catch them? LMAO emoBigsmile

Me showing you how to catch bass would be like having a plumber try to teach a surgeon how to operate on patients! !!!! emoEek

Good job Jim. You beat us, that was my goal today to beat you but it never happened. Oh well.

It was beautiful day and I enjoyed seeing everyone at the weigh in. Wish I could have helped Jmax more but I do swing a mean net emoLaugh . Thanks to the committee for all the work putting these on. It can be a thankless job. Jim and I just couldn't get any consistent pattern going and I had a hard time sticking fish. We both came to the same conclusion. I'm using a new 6'8" Shimano spinning rod that says it is for worm and jig as my finesse worm rod. I like the sensitivity of it but I think the action on the end is not stout enough. The rod just doesn't have enough backbone out on the end to drive the hook through the plastic and into the fish. I had several fish on for several feet only for them to pull off. The hook wouldn't even be through the plastic. I think I'm going back to my old 6' finesse rod and use the new one for light crankbaits and grub fishing. It was just the best day weather wise and thanks to Jim for letting me tag along. I hope everyone had as great an Easter weekend as I did. Fishing on Saturday and then an awesome church service on Sunday morning at Silverdale Baptist followed by a delicious home cooked meal with my family. Jesus has risen and because of that fact we have hope emoSun . Life is good emoThumbsup .
