To start with let me admit, I am stupid! I am too old for this s@#T! My back is hurting, I have aches all over, I am sore where I did not know I could be sore and my dang left calf muscle keeps cramping. emoBang I fish a lot but 12 hours straight on the trolling motor is apparently more then my calf can take. The next time I say I am going to fish an all nighter by myself call the insane asylum cause I need to be admitted.

I did my plan and it worked out perfect as far as the fishing goes. I took one rod out of my rod box and never put it down. Never even took another out. I drowned a big worm all night for 12 hours. Using 12 lb test Red Lable Seagar with a 3/16th head shakey and a large trick worm I started with that and ended with that. I lost count on the number of fish I caught. I did my normal of targeting drops, ledges and edges with structure and/or grass. Once the sun went down I worked the outer edges of grass flats out along the deepest grass I could find. Mostly in about 10 to 15 foot with a few a little deeper. I had a limit before the sun set. A 6/13, a couple low 3s and a couple 2s. By midnight I had culled all of those except the six and was sitting on about 25 lbs. with an 8, the 6, a 4 and two solid threes. It would take me the rest of the tournament to get rid of those two threes.

I did loose a hog last night that will haunt me for years to come. I think it was another monster big bass. Hooked up with her in the grass at a drop that went out into deeper water. When I set the hook she did not move and I thought she was in the grass. Got her coming my way and realized it was all fish. In the dark (it was 3 a.m.) I saw it come up and do a simi-jump, it did not look real. Got her again coming my way and she sounded. Went straight under the boat and kept going. My rod looked like it was going to break. Ran to the front of the boat and got under the trolling motor so I could fight her on the other side. I think when I did I let some slack get in my line and she just came off. emoHoppingmad emoBawl I had to sit there a while just to calm my nerves and cry. That one cost me the tournament but that is why we keep going back, the ones that get away. emoAngel

Still had a great night. The weather was never all that bad. It was a little hot and humid but around 12 mid night that went away. My efforts ended up yielding 26.88 lbs with my best five and good enough for 2nd place. Considering the competition and being by myself I am very happy with that one. There are a lot of great anglers who fish the CBA tournaments. emoWorthy Last night ended up being Steve Kites and Daniel Lewis's night. They won the tournament with over 27 lbs and had big bass of the tournament with a hog over 9 lbs. emoWorthy Those two are two of the best anglers in these parts of Chattanooga and have been doing that right there for a long while. emoToast Jmax

emoThumbsup I would have went with you

Thanks, I put Derek down as my partner. The CBA allows for a person to miss two tournaments when your partner still goes. Your partner can add his name as his partner even thou the person is not there. That way any points for that tournament can still be given to your partner. If I had someone else fill in as my partner then Derek would not be able to get any points I may achieve. Also the new partner would have to buy a processing number, if not any points I achieve I could not get either because the team would not qualify for them. emoScratch With all that said I just chose to fish my myself so if I did well Derek would get the points and so would I. Now I will add that my charity stopped at the points. Derek did not get jack on the money! Both checks went to me. emoEvil Jmax

I was gonna ask if you get sick of picking grass off a shakey head vs. a texas rig...but it looks like it's well worth it. CongratsemoThumbsup </p>

If you use one that is 3/16th or less the grass is not so bad. If I fish in the grass and not on the edge your right. The grass will hang a lot. I will then go with something really heavy to punch the grass or a Texas rig with a very small weight like a 1/8th or 1/16th that you can swim through the grass. That kind of fishing can be very frustrating but like you said, it can also be very rewarding. I like structure fishing. I really prefer shallow water fishing with structure over deep water fishing out on humps and the river. With the grass still getting better each year we are having a lake that is fishing more and more like the G. emoAngel Jmax
