here's one review by a ~reliable source: https://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/p17-review/

would definitely look into more reviews if this is gonna be a firearm that gets a lot of use. durability has been an issue for some of their products. it's not that they're poorly made. when you consider the price points of their weapons something has to give - durability is it. they may have taken some of this to heart in their work on the P17, acc to this review. if you get similar reports from other sources it looks to be a good buy.

Is the Keltec P 17 a good choice of firearm I have no experience with any guns and a lady I know was asking me if it would be a good gun for her

Are you looking for a 22LR caliber only?

the P3AT has been a good little gun for me, its small. .380 and with the extension i have it holds 7(1 in the chamber). mine doesnt like steel cased ammo but otherwise has been reliable

I have 4 Kel-Tecs. Both 9mm's (double and single stack), the .380, and the 32 cal. All reliable and somewhat durable. They tend to rust a little if not cared for and kept clean and dry. Their blued finish is not the best. I've carried them all and they even cycle my reload's dependably. So for personal carry and home defense, they are a good buy. The P-9 (single stack 9mm would be the best for concealed carry, light weight and stopping power tho it barks a little (recoil). The 9mm's cycle steel case rounds just fine. The .380 likes factory winchester FMJ. BEB's for the 32. IMO

The best one for her is the one she'll carry.
I bought Judy a S&W 38 Airweight with a Crimson trace laser. She wouldn't carry it. Took her to TNT and she picked out one that she thought was "pretty".

She carries it.
