Little Lane needs his diaper changed. Imagine being Mike Hamilton and spending all this money on Kiffin only to have him hold a press conference where all he can do is talk about Meyer and Saban. Isn't he the HC at UT? Shouldn't he be talking about UT? Did he forget he plays BOTH of those coaches on the road this year?

And why ... WHY, does he point fingers at Meyer for recruiting violations when he has Reggie Bush hanging over his head? Pot, allow me to introduce you to kettle.

So Vols, your coach has already been reprimanded by Mike Slive. I'll give Kiffin this - he's got a big brass set. He'll get 'em served back to him on a silver platter by Meyer and Saban this year. Spurrier and Richt will eat his lunch at home too.

I'm licking my chops. Roll Tide Roll.

Pretty confident there RR. I hope that the tide does well and an orange vs red SEC championship would be fun. I'm not sure that Kiffin can get it done soon either. I guess we'll see.

Kiffin is an idiot and his stint with the LA Raiders proves that. Tennessee got what they deserve when they hired him. I cant wait till he proves to be a failer at UT like he was at LA. I hope Tennessee has alot more years like last one and the NCAA finally get them for cheating and puts them on probation for a couple of years like Fat Phil had done to Alabama. emoEnforce emoEnforce

hmmmm emoScratch I always thought Alabama was on probation because they cheated.

I thought Kiffin did a good job with what little recruiting time he had. However, he needs to let his teams do the talking on the field. I am a TN fan but at this rate he might need to change his name to Loose Kannon.

Fellas all he did was get attention for the program. He want's attention and he's getting it. The national media is eating it up and most agree they like what he did. It brings fire back to the program. If you don't like it...get over it. I don't know if he'll be successful and may not be great right away, but I will tell you this, he will make the Vols tougher and they will improve greatly. What I want to know is besides Florida, who has some high octane offense that is coming back. I like Tennessee's schedule next year. I will bet they will surprise some of you haters. I like the fact that all the sudden everyone hates the Vols again!!! That means they are relevant and it's only Febuary! We will see, but I think the other thing that people don't like is ..he isn't in the good ol buy network. emoCool

He's definitely getting the attention Chris, but he better have his game on come September with all the smack he's talking. He has been constant controversy ever since signing with UT. Spurrier threw a red flag at him about recruiting before passing his tests, he called out Urban Meyer calling him a cheater and saying they would beat UF this year while bragging about snagging a recruit from UF, he said about Coach Richt and his staff that they must have been sleeping n GA.....hmm UT signed 1 GA boy, and UGA took 2 of TNs best players....yea we were sleeping on that one. And the whole Marlon Brown deal that is now getting attention. Brown said HE AND his family were turned off by the UT staff, particularly Ed Orgeron....at least that is what the UT message boards read.

I really liked Lane during his stint in the NFL. Always the underdog with plenty of fire and knowledge of the game. He was done wrong in Oakland. Bad wrong. I thought it was a great hire for UT, and I still do, but he hasn't coached a game yet in the SEC and he is already FILLING opponents bulletin boards for this fall. Just seems a little ballsy to me. It could turn out to be a genius move...but the odds are seriously stacked against him. What if he doesn't match the record of 5-7 like Phil left on?? Heck, he may go undefeated and win the SEC and NC. Time will only tell and I have absolutely no idea

But I do know one thing, if he is going to come into the SEC flapping his jaws the way he has the last 2 weeks, he better bring the heat on Saturdays come September

My question to everyone is, what would you rather have him say? Would you rather have the Fulmerisms ( we are going to work like heck) or do you want someone that will light his team and fans a$$es up? I think it's refreshing. Let's remember Saban and Myer are 2 of the biggest P***ks in all of college football. Now they have both proven themselves, but they were P***ks when they got to their schools. Like I said, I don't know what's going to happen, but I will bet Tennessee will be in a bowl game next year, in fact I would say 7 or 8 wins is doable. Hell should have had at least 7 this year and look how bad they were. I apreciate Lane and his staff being so fired up!! Tennessee needs it.

You guy are a riot... All this football talk during basketball season...Oh yea thats right... You GA and BAMA boys have nothing to cheer about , so all you can do is Rag on Kiffin... Well, his mission has been successful so far...

"You GA and BAMA boys have nothing to cheer about , so all you can do is Rag on Kiffin... Well, his mission has been successful so far..."

Bingo ;)

I hunt to hard to worry about football. that being said, my wife is a former Knoxvillian, and bleeds orange so I root for the Vols. What has gotten me disguisted over the years is all the thugs athletes in knoxville playing gangster gangster on the weekends and constantly getting in trouble. I'd be happy if Kiffin could eliminate all that crap. I think it cast a negative shadow over the whole program when these 18 year old athletes get caught in the club with a bag of 'dro and a piece. Maybe he'll straighten these boys up!

I am with you WhiffinVOL, i love the fact that these comments made so many mad. I think it is hilarious also that AL and Ga fans are talking so much smack. Al will be starting an untested QB( and a rebuilt OL,) seems like TN had one or two of those this year and look where it got them! Ga lost the 2 best offensive players to have played there in 20 years. Do you think Joe Cox is that good!

I never was a Kiffin fan when he was hired but i love what he is doing up there. More discipline, fire, vigor and straight shooting. No smoke screens of "we will work hard" and" we will be there in the end. " From what i can tell of him he calls it like it is.

Like someone said, it is Feb and everyone already is talking about TN football. Hasn't he not done his job? And Tn might go 5-7 again this year just like Saban went 6-6 his first year or did we forget that already? The fact is in Kiffin gets Tn back to 8 wins this year it will be like winning a National Championship for TN fans. AL, FL, Ga, fans get back with us in a few years.

Fishin' Junkie - 2/6/2009 8:20 AM I just have 1 question...Who will Coach Lame go with next year? Crompton, Coleman, or Stephens? emoTongue
</p>

Kiffin addressed that too . He said when Pete Carrol hired him at USC a guy by the name of Carson Palmer was there and USC had just gone 5 and 6 the previous year and everyone was saying how they didn't have a qb, they Palmer was a head case and his footwork was terrible. HMMM..what happend to Carson Palmer? Heisman, National Champion. Now I am not saying there is that up in Knoxville, but I do think there is some unfound talant up there and I do believe he will get the best out of them. Is that best enough? Again...we'll see.

What Vol fan is really worried about going down to the swamp next year and getting drilled over what our coach said yesterday to a Knoxville crowd? If memory serves me correctly, Fullmer took teams down there and got drilled several times and he said nothing about the barbs thrown at him by Spurrier or Meyer. Kudos to Kiffin for have the courage to throw down the gauntlet and if the rival fans or coaches don't like it, then they can just stew in their panties about it.

As far as Alabama is concerned (they are still my second favorite team in the SEC), I guess that everyone in the SEC ought to forfeit all their games and concede the NC to the Tide. Oops, everyone except UTAH. I'll bet that you can't get them to forfeit anything to the #1 team in America. How does even Florida stand a chance against the mighty Tide when they have signed the last two #1 classes in America? Hopefully they aren't cheating again like they did before and get put on probation. I really missed them during the decade that they were gone.

Georgia? What a joke! The Dawgs have been favored over the Vols for the past 5 or 6 years, but it seems to me that the Vols have won 2 out of the last 3. And that is with Fullmer as coach playing less than his best players. How can we ever beat the Dawgs when all of their best players have left early and with Joe Cox at QB? Mayhaps they will run the single wing???? At least the Vols are competitive with the Dawgs. It is only a matter of time until the Vols are competitive with the Gators and Tide as well.

Take your best shots at the Vols right now guys while you still can. I don't know what kind of w/l record that the Vols will have next year, but that really doesn't matter as long as the best players get on the field and fight to the finish. We now have a coaching staff on the Hill that rivals the Doug Dickey teams of long long ago. It won't be too long before the Vols will be feared instead of jeered by rival teams.

That's my .02 worth, but what do I know? I'm just a crappie fisherman. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Dont know why ya'll are all of a sudden ragging the Dawgs like I was talkin junk......I just simply said your boy Lane better wear his big boy panties if he is going to run his mouth like this

Its one thing to say we are going to beat so and so next year, yea that gets your fans fired up. But throwing the grandmother of an 18 yr old under the bus....calling another coach a cheater....disrespecting another programs recruiting when they in fact WHOOPED you in recruiting.......How is this good for your program? Yea the nation is all talking about the Vols and Kiffin, but I dont think it is the kind of recognition you want your team to have. Everybody is laughing at Kiffin. How does his rich arogance help the program? Thats all I want to know. I said before that Kiffin was a good hire, and I still think thats true, but he better bring it this fall. Thats all Im saying. If not he will be the laughing stock of all college football. Best of luck to him and you Vols
