Got out about 12:00 today. Had to rest up after a brutal spin class this morning. Since my trolling motor is still at
Fish n Fun waiting to be fixed I was not expecting to do too well today. A lot of docks that you can't tie up to are pretty unfishable without a trolling motor, and the wind just compounds the problem of boat position.
Anyway I started on a deep water dock with 1/32 jig and BG Shad and let it fall to an 8 count. Got 12 nice crappie there from 11 to 13 inches. Had to be an 8 count or more to get bit. Moved up river some and tried another dock and had 4 quality fish right away, but the wind was blowing me all around. Couldn't tie up as boat was too close to where fish were holding, and owners were in the yard. Moved on to a deep brush pile in open water and picked off 3 fish just drifting by. Went to 1/16 on the brush pile. Bluegrass was my go to color today, and I picked up a couple of fish on a crappie stinger and even got some on the Soddy Tackle Special yellow/white tube, lol.
I stopped fishing around 4:00, and ended with 28 nice keeper fish and 2 smalls. Had 1 dark male that had rubbed his lower tail completly off, down to a bloody stump. A late spawner I guess. Also had 3 bass, one that looked to be 4-5# that came off at the boat as I was attempting to net her. Also got a 5# channel cat on a BG Shad.
Not a bad day at all, but a little frustrating without a trolling motor, had to change my whole routine.
emoBang All fish returned to the lake for your fishing pleasure. Saw CFF member fishnrod on the dock when I was taking out.
