Norman, I am just curious by nature... I thought that I had all the bases covered on the homemade silver buddies...sounds like Pete,Sr and Pete,Jr might be as fanatical about their fishing lures as I am...is the chartruese silver buddie he used actually a brass blade? I might have a similar replica in my box that might work...check em out. Also have discovered that the new Do-It mold has an eye socket which accomodates the same 5mm wiggle eye that I put on my 1/16 crappie jigs...brings em to life with an eye movement and rattles too...I heard somewhere a while back that bass like that rattle sound ..lol

Hey maddog, we are as fanatical about fishing lures as you are lol... Your lures look like good fish catchers too. I am totally addicted to making all kinds of lures now. The vibrating blades that I am making for the river are molded in do-it molds that have the eyesockets; and I am using the nickel blades. I have not used the brass blades as much as the nickel. I am pouring them in heavier weights to get down faster. Like you, I am putting decals on the side of the blades to give them more flash and eyes in the eyesockets. I use gamakatsu hooks on them too which really stick the fish.

When I get home later I will post a few pics of them for you to see.

Thanks for the answer FirstLight. Same here on the hooks, 'cept I use alot of red hooks nowadays...I always take the needlenose and put a windmill twist on the trebles(like a tru-turn hook)...found that keeps em from coming loose from that smallie's mouth when he goes airborne...do it to alot of my crankbaits also, got frustating watching those LM spit out my rattletrapson queue...seemed to help alot, couldn't hurt I figured...I putdecals on most all my crankbaits also, never have fished much of anything straight out of the box, just a "maddog kinda thang" I guess...started with me when I was a pup and got my first Creepy Crawler set forXmas one year, made some bugs that would scare my little sisters so I took em to the neighborhood creek and caught bigole bream on em....been addicted to lure making ever since!</p>

I like red hooks too on the front of the bait. One of my fishing buddies makes fun of my red hooks but I think they work. I have never customized the hooks by bending them before. I might try that. Those Brownfish sure have a way of coming unbuttoned; especially the big girls... I also put decals on my lipless cranks. Anything to make the bait look a little different and more real can't hurt. I appreciate the info. Pics:
