Legalizing Marijuana

I've always thought that it was stupid for alcohol to be legal and not marijuana. If you think about it, what if you invented a product that was responsible for about 50k traffic deaths a year...think your product would be made illegal instantly? Pot should just be regulated the same way that alcohol is. Of course, the medicinal benefits for people going through chemotherapy have been proven over and over again. Besides, the most dangerous pot heads usually just want to order a pizza and then sleep, you never hear of someone who was stoned starting a fight.

I agree with davo, The only thing you have to worry about with a pot head is whether they eat all the ice cream and pass out on the couch or if they lost their car keys and can't leave( which leads to them eating all your snack foods) You never hear about a stoner beating their wife and kids, getting DUI's, going on binges that leads to the aforementioned, etc. etc. And the stoners would probably get a traffic ticket for driving under the speed limit. And another thing, I was in Frisco several years ago, and smoking cigarettes was illegal in public BUT, to my suprise, I seen multiple persons smoking joints whether it was on BART or on the street corner and it was accepted.

Me too! Legalize it. Tax it! We will be out of trouble in the near future.

Id rather fish with cheech and chong .. that would be hilarious ... couldnt even fish would be laughing so hard.

Gov wont ever legalize , they make too much money in seizures and such.

Me too!!!! Why not legalize it and tax it....just another way for the Gov't to make money, and one that I actually wouldn't oppose!

I lived with a drunk most my life and really dont have allot to do with them today. I try...but all effort fails. Not an easy story for me to share...

Ive had guys at work I would have loved to fire due to prescription drugs and I'm talking legal! They were more messed up than anyone I knew that smoked pot. Watched one guy hit his puffer 10 times...hold it in...choke up and let it out. Kills me!!!!

Talk about getting a country out of trouble..that ought to do it and that's been said for years!

from what I understand they are trying to get it legalized in CA and tax it . It might even bring them from the brink of bankruptcy maybe arnold is saying:
*terminator's voice* "smoke with me if you want to live"

Not to mention all the kids that are arrested for a small amount of pot, spend an excessive amount of time in jail and come out a completely different person, usually for the worse.

Wow, I must admit that I was expecting very different responses on this... I would have to agree with you all. The worst drunk can be violent and put others in danger. The worst pothead is only a danger to cheetos and unemployment levels. Legalizing it could potentially dismantle a huge black market, which breeds crime and transfers American dollars out of America.

couldnt agree more, I have been a supporter of NORML for some years now however government views it as more money coming in from arrests, court costs, etc this seems to be the major thing holding back plus they cant figure out a way to tax it right out as this is something that can be grown and some argue how can you tax a plant but there are ways, they just dont want to mess up stable income from arrests and the such

in the infamous words of Peter Tosh said "legalize it"

Some growers in CA were given permission to grow crops that supplied the "medicinal" market, but the Fed came in and destroyed the crops, and busted the growers. These are folks that had the state's blessing! What none of them realized- federal law prohibits the manufacture, sale, and use of marijuana anywhere in the United States, and that law supersedes ANY state law.

Therefore, the Federal Gov't has to legalize it- it doesn't matter what the state does.
