What is a good line to put on a spinning reel ? Thanks for any help and it will be for bass fishing 10 pound test...........

20lb power pro braid with a 6' leader of whatever I want. I usually use 10lb Seagar Red Label (bought a big spool during Tackle Warehouse Christmas sale).

I will second this. I love the Braid to Fluoro leader.

I use 10# braid, w/ 8-10 P Line leader, or 8-10 # P Line on the whole spool. Good part of many spinning reels is there is an extra spool, so you can do two set ups.

maybe what I will us it's for my wife and want it as easy as I can make it for her Thanks hooker.....

S/S, you asked for and were given great advice. Straight Flouro on a spinning reel is a challenge, at best. The braid with flouro leader is the way to go. If you're afraid of the connector knot, learn it, tie it and make it part of your game. For your wife, I agree with the 20#. I use 14/15 and 10 pound braid (along with 20) but I do it every time I'm on the lake. The lighter line is tough in the wind, 1% of the time but when there's an issue, it can be terminal. I only fish for bass and only use spinning gear. good luck on whatever direction you choose

PLine floroclear works pretty dang good. Wife caught an 8 lber on 10# test a couple yrs back. She has caught countless 4-5 lb fish too. Just set your drag correctly and check your line for abrasions periodically.

I don't think anyone will question the ability of flouro to be able to get a big fish in the boat. Also, all lines are compromised when there's abrasion. The braid/flouro combo enables you to cast much farther and while it's not indestructible, it's pretty much a fire and forget line. Much easier to check a leader for abrasion than the full cast length. The joining knot and knowing how to tie it, scared people for years but once you've used it and caught fish, it's not a big deal. I'll be truthful, I thought we should be arguing over the best flouro to braid knot, by now. To me, the braid/flouro is an absolute given.

I was so afraid of the Braid/Fluoro knot at first, Now it's second nature. I tie a double Uni to join them together.

double uni is a great knot but I use the Alberto because I can tie it better in the wind. When tying the Alberto, your weak/less dominant hand never lets go of the line, so you don't have tag ends to locate. Will not trash the double uni, I've used it and it worked great. I'm a knot head but down to 3. Palomar and Alberto are easy knots to tie in strong wind but the blood knot still causes me to cuss when it's whitecapping

Saw a report a few years back that Trilene XL actually loses strength once it gets wet. For straight mono, it's hard to beat P Line Fluoroclear.

Do not get confused. Fluoroclear is NOT fluorocarbon.

I like Fluoroclear but it's not straight Mono either. If I am going cheap I use Fluoroclear usually. I HATE Berkley fishing line.

P-Line Fluoroclear is the answer. I use 12lb most of the time. Lays well on the reel and casts easily.
