Lots going on lately both on the water and off so not much time to post fishing reports. I want to apologize to anyone who has called or emailed over the last couple of weeks that I may not haven't responded too. Things are finally getting back to normal and I'm going back through any missed voicemail's or emails so thanks for your patience.
I've been on the water 10 of the last 13 (day or night, sometimes both). The water temp is holding between 68-71 and the clarity is good. Most of the spawn is either happening now or has finished. Fry is everywhere in the backs of pockets near laydowns, it's literally on every tree. There's tons of male fish guarding in these areas that will eat flukes, Spotstickers, or wacky rigged worms. Any steep/vertical bank leading into pockets are producing numbers dragging Spotstickers out to 15-20ft. While out with new clients Terry and Dave we found one particular steep/vertical area leading into a spawning flat that produced a dozen Spots in less than 30 minutes and all were 2-3lb solid fish, all caught on 3/16 Spotstickers and Watermelon Pearl worms. Big Spots are hard to come by right now, a 15-16lb bag is a really good catch right now in my opinion. With the majority of fish post spawn look for the bigger fish to start showing up this week on Fish Heads, Jerkbaits, and Flukes near deep/steep points and wind blown banks.
The livebait Striper/Hybrid bite for me was great up until the past 5-6 days and the Full Moon took a bite out of my bite. There is a good current bite happening the first couple of hours but take a number getting there most days LOL. My night bite casting bucktails, big flukes, and Spro McSticks is still producing some big fish but not as many as before this past week. I look for things to pick up both day and night for both species over the next few days.
Bill and I both have days available if anyone is interested drop me a line!
Good luck on the water everyone and happy Easter!
