We started out this morning by not getting in the water quick enough. I usually like to let my motor warm up for a little while before taking off but didn't really get a chance to. We ran to our first spot which fortunately wasnt far from the ramp. The morning was slow with only one short fish coming in the first hour or so. Larry switched over to a chatter bait and I hear him hooked up with something pretty large in the back. After at least one trip around the boat and about 3 attempts with the net we finally netted a big one. Turned out to be 8.94lb whopper! We fished in that area for probably another hour or so without a bite. We decided to make a move to some other sloughs with structure thinking the rising water may push the fish up. Man what a mistake that wound up being. The rain showed up about lunch time for us and we went up and down the chocolate Ocean trying to find at least one more decent fish. We never could find any clean water outside of cfp. My little boat doesnt handle the ocean to well so we decided about 1 to go back to where we started since we hadn't had another bite. I fished hard with a trap for the next 35-40 minutes and decided to make a color change. About two casts later I hooked up another decent fish at 1:40 that went 5lbs or so. Wound up winning it with a little over 14lbs I think and 2 fish. Only 4 fish caught all day for us and all came in one spot and clean water. Good times lie ahead with the warmer weather moving in it seems. Congrats to all who weighed in today.
