I ran my reservoir real low and filled up with that $8 oil from walmart ran the boat the other day , ran the same to say the least. Its was a lot better than 25 a gallon. Did all kinds of research on supertech oil on the internet and everything that I read about it was positives. Time will tell

I'm guessing you will be fine. I don't think any oil will actually make a motor have more power.I do think some oils probably burn cleaner than others though and thus have less buildup and plug fouling. I am sticking with quicksilver premium plus synthetic blend for my pro xs.

I've used the stuff you are talking about for years in 3 different outboards, all older models and it worked fine for me. I use it now in my weedeater, chainsaw, and leaf blower, no problems. My new suzuki outboard is a 4 stroke and It uses plain old valvoline 10w-30, but it holds 6 quarts, more than any car or truck I know of except my diesel.

I have a 1990 150 yamaha and after the three year warranty ran out, I started using wal-marts oil. It's been better than 14 years and it's still running like a top. (knock on wood) emoBigsmile

I have used super tech in all my boats thruout the years and hace had no problems with it. i recently disconnected my auto oil injection system on my 200 xp and it seems to smoke alittle more then it did with injecter system. maybe i will add some of that expensive whiskey that I drink to the oil emoThumbsup

It's good stuff! Bought my 200EFI new in '98 and used nothing but the quicksilver premium plus bought in bulk from the dealer - it blew up 15 months later to the day. I have nothing but good to say about Mercury, as they honored the 1-year warranty on it even though it had expired 3 months earlier. Had the new block put on and have run nothing but Walmart oil in it ever since and she's still running for me today...
