Megabass jerkbaits

I bought some mega bass jb an =d for the money why do the hooks bend so easy on them? for that price they can't put better hooks on them ? Ok I'm don't venting.... I like their jb though, but I'm gonna also try the lucky craft

They really shine when the water gets cold. They are one of the very few jerkbaits that suspend right when the water gets cold without having to mess around with lead strips and hook sizes. They have a very unique action compared to other brands, less body roll and more darting erratically from side to side. Only jerkbait I will throw when the water gets in the 40’s and below.

I don’t have A LOT of experience with them, but they absolutely catch fish. As far as the hooks go, I agree they are SUPER light weight and bend out easy. That’s why a flimsy rod and good drag are necessary for throwing them. The hooks are so thin and “sticky” they practically hook the fish themselves. It doesn’t take a whole lot of pressure to drive those hooks through the fish’s mouth. You can’t tighten the drag down and horse the fish. Gotta play them them in. That’s my short lived real life experience with them. I have bought 8 of them. Used the $100 gift card from 2 years in a row to buy 4 at a time. Pretty steep at $25 a pop though

I like them and they do catch fish; but i still lean towards my lucky craft JB's.

I had a couple of the megabass Jb's get damaged during normal use which was disappointing. I'm real careful to not bang them into rocks/structure but a couple of the 110+1's quit suspending and sinking fast after normal use / catching fish / etc.

Rick Clunn’s jerkbaits are as close as I’ve seen to the megabass and from my experience have performed just as well. And they are under $10

Can you still get them? I can’t find them anywhere

The Clunn ones are the same body, but they do not act anything like the Megabass ones underwater. I have three of the Clunn ones and one sinks like a rock, one floats and one suspends, or slow sinks in cold water. I own 2 of the Megabass ones and I seldom use them because I hate throwing a jerkbait, but I have been worn out multiple times by someone in the front of the boat throwing one. Mostly now I use the little swimbaits instead of the jerkbait. I get more bites, plus I actually know I am getting the bites. As for the hooks, they are very sharp, and they are there to catch anything on the fish once it sucks the bait in and then tries to blow it back out of their mouth, they are thin wire hooks, but I have only bent one of the stock hooks so far. You just have to play the fish on those hooks.
