More utter nonsense about Enterprise South hunt

Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

The hunts are still a go. Richard is right about contacting your county commissioner and expressing your opinion on the subject. The commissioners are very pro hunting but a supportive word from the voters is always a good thing. Talk of instituting a Wounded Warrior hunt on the area next year. Make time to give your commissioner a call or e-mail and say thank you for having the hunts and you think it is a solid idea.

Okay guys I would like encourage every one to take a couple minutes and email your commissioner about this , please speak up before it's to late , we need to figure out a way to unite hunters and fishermen to be able to act as one because this infringement on our hunting and fishing rights are only going to get worse and I personally want my kids to be able to enjoy the outdoors long after I'm gone !!!

This is the link to the county commissioners and what I wrote them:

Just want to let you guys know that the majority of Hamilton County residents are educated enough to know that the best wildlife managers are hunters themselves. We appreciate the much needed management hunt at Enterprise South. Keep up the good work and please do not let the very vocal, ignorant minority sway future decisions for hunts.

Here's the best writing I know of on this subject. Link is to a PDF "Managing Urban Deer in Connecticut"

www.ct.gov/dph/lib/dph/urbandeer07.pdf

Wish all decision makers would read this before making any changes to the status quo. The status quo (hunting) turns out to be safest, cheapest, and best method for managing an urban deer herd. All other methods are very expensive. For example, it would cost $1000 per deer for birth control. Hunters are licensed, hunter safety certified, trained sportsmen who harvest the animal humanely and eat the lean venison. That is a very good product to promote, but we often fail to get that across.
