What a great day. Played hookie again today but could not find anyone to lay out of work with me so after sleeping in I hit the Riverpark at 9:15 this morning. Put in and headed down to my pets. I was the only boat in sight for the first 3 hours of the day which was super nice. Started the day off throwing a torpedo and the spots were all over it. First 12 fish of the day came on it and these were my first topwater fish of the year. It was about that time the clouds rolled in and it actually sprinkled for about 20 minutes. During this time I caught a few fish on tube and switched to the pig n jig to try to replicate last Saturday's fishing. The fish were there and I was catching good numbers when I noticed the conditions were again perfect for topwater. The wind had completely died and the clouds were pretty thick. Fished the torpedo for the next couple of hours and flat wore fish out. There would be 2-3 fish at a time try to eat it. Some fish would jump clear over the biat. Most of these were bass on beds as later in the day when the sun came out I could see the fish guarding nests which was cool. Saw a 3 lb spot with her boyfriend and caught a nice 15" off one nest on a pig n jig. Around 12:30 the clouds started to break up and by 1 they were gone. I caughta few more fish on a crank and pig n jig and then the aquarium boat showed up which was my cue to leave.

I decided to try for post spawn smallies as I know a place theystack up this time of year. Ended up boating 3 smallies and a 16" spot off this area. Hada nice keeper 18" smallie, a stocky 16.5" smallie and a 12" smallie. Left them biting just after 2.

So fishing solo I boated 82 bass today (16.2 bass per hour)and 2 google eyes. Also lost a channel cat at the boat. Had 1 LM, 3 smallies and 78 spots. This is anew solo numbers record for me. I bet I stuck and lost another 30 bass today. Unreal the amout of activity today. The spots are in the spawn and the size is getting better. I had a bunch of 14-15" fish today were in the past couple of weeks the fish have been running smaller. Next week should be the best with the full moon coming. Water temp today was 67.

The last pic is what happens to your fingers after catching 82 bass. Hurts like hell.
