A fishing trip Tuesday from noon until 3:30. It was nice to feel the warm sun on the back of my neck for a change. Water temperature was 46 and touched 48. We caught 21 crappie...2 yellow bass...1 small largemouth...1 yellow perch. We fished 1/16 oz. BG and Panfish Assassin jigs in 13-20 feet and most of the fish were deep. Water clarity was good. I caught the largest crappie right at 13 inches on an Outlaw Special Scent Wiggl'r. A few more warm days and nights should really "kick-start" all species soon. TWRA was out and about in a small aluminum boat doing the routine boat checks and measuring the fish in the livewell and everything checked out ok. emoThumbsup

You and Debbie did a great job from some of the reports that I heard from other fishermen. I know that one of my students was frustrated at finding schools of fish and not able to get them to bite. They said that they weren't going to spend another penny on electronics. Too frustrating to find fish and not be able to coax them into biting. I haven't discussed the perch colored hand grenade with them yet. That lesson is one of the more advanced lessons. emoBigsmile

Anyway, a very nice bucket of crappie. Congratulations on finding them on a tough day for most. emoThumbsup emoBigsmile emoGeezer

very nice , thanks for the report

I think I saw you sailfish along with Chris and his wife in seperate boats Tuesday. I heard that you were both fishing so that was probably you. I was close enough to yell at 'ya one time but if I had been wrong I might have been a little red faced. I didn't know you fished that area of the lake. It's picking back up and the crappie should be making a major push thru there in the next week or so if it's anything like last year. The fish and patterns compared to last year are running a couple of weeks behind I guess due to the much colder water temperature we've had this year.
