Thanks for this forum. Just got home with this 1984 Stratos 355V w/ 1982 Merc 115hp. Deck looks good, carpet bad, Power T&T work, minor dings, and no cracks around transom. I hope it works out.
Anyone have suggestions for this boat as far as historical trouble with this model. I think this was Stratos first year. It is my plan to restore this boat to new condition although it was kept so well, not much to do.

emoThumbsup emoThumbsup emoThumbsup They are realy good ol'motors! I'd get the best electronics I could afford & realy learn to read them. Also a good 24V T-motor.</p>

Get with EricM, he has an 84 Statos as well, and trust me...he has been through every single part of that ol barge of his! LOL (not the good way either!)

Yep, the old "TOWER OF POWER" engines are workhorses. They are just very THIRSTY. The good thing about it is that the ignition is a ADI system that is also used on the V-6 mercs 1976 untill 2000. The only thing that is different is tha the stator is different on some. So ignition parts are very plentiful. That year model did not have a overheat alarm, but did have a place for it next to #1 plug. It can be easily added, just costly, around $200 emoEek Of course someone smart may have added it. So make sure you keep up with the water pump replacements so you don't overheat it. It is a very simple cooling system, so either a water pump has to fail or get something on the inlets to overheat it. Hope this helps!
