I took my son fishing for the first time the other day and he had a ball. He caught several fish, which kept his attention, but pitched a fit when he missed one. I did have to cast for him because he's only two and a half, but for the reeling in part he did it all. I was a proud dad when he caught his first fish, he even jerked good when I told him to. All fish were caught on a Superman rod and reel with a chart squirmin squirt in a pond.

RE: My sons first fish

First - You should be proud!! You gotta love that smile. emoBigsmile

Second - I still pitch a fit when I miss one too!! emoBawl

and Third - Maybe I need to get a Superman rod and reel!!! emoLaugh

Congrats to his first fish!!

Now thats a memory! Way to go little man! Now just have dad put you on those smaller fish..LOL

Congrats Mad Dog...thats something you'll never forget!

That's how you do it right there, keep'em on the river bank and they'll never forget

I have a 2 1/2 yr old as well and he too has the superman fishing rod, he has been wanting to "throw it into the water" but I dont have anywhere that I really fell comfortable taking him that I know of. The boat is too much trouble for the little guy. Are there any ponds in the Hixson/Soddy area that you all know of that I could take him to? Just want to find a couple of brim and bobber fish for a wihle.

Any suggestions? Id even be willing to knock on some doors if you all are sure I wouldnt get shot. Would love to take him out for a couple hours this weekend if possible. We have a 3 week old girl and the boys need to get out for a bit. If all else fails I guess we will go find a dock somewhere.

That young fellow is grin'in like a mule eating sawbriars in that first picture!!

Get that picture framed!!

Good stuff!!!emoThumbsup

It may be a little early for the best bream fishing on Lake Jack (my lake), but.....

The bank fishing on the lake is very kid friendly for about 300 yards, there is a 12 foot boat, paddle, ect if you want to use it.

It is not close to the Soddy area, but may/could be worth the drive to Villanow, GA

PM me if you need directions!

I do love to watch a young fellow catch some fish.emoThumbsup

A co-worker and I took his young son fishing on "Lake Jack" a few years ago!

Greg and I were hooking the fish and then handing the rod off to young Zach, about five years old!

At the end of the day Greg ask his young son Zach...."Zach, just how many fish did you catch today?"

Zach's answer was.........."More than Mr. Jack!!"

The Kid was even talking smack by the end of the day!!!emoBigsmile

Hooker, take him to Booker T. sometime. There are two piers to fish from and the depth ranges provide you with opportunities to catch both bream and crappie.

Lake Jack sounds incredible. Ill have to google it first to find out where in the heck it is.emoEek

But thank you for the offer and in the next couple weeks I may just PM you. Im very excited to see what his reaction will be. Im hoping something like the pictures above!

Lordy this has to be my favorite post!!! I hope to have one similiar in a few weeks. Katie, my little from BBBS birthday is the 15th. I've gotten her a birthday present! Yep .. her first fishing pole! She's never been fishing and I think a 9 year old (which is what she will be on her birthday) needs to go.

This thread just confirms it.

Nice to see kids .. do something cool like emoFish !

TT

There's not a lot I can add to what's already been said.

Savor the moment. It will be a highlight for a lifetime.

Makes you downright proud.

Thanks for sharing. Congrats to your Son!
