Looking to purchase new truck for boat trailering. Probably will go with the Ford F-150. Any ideas on how far a dealer would come off of list on a $35,000 truck?
Depends on how bad they want to make a sale!!!LOL!!! I know I worked for Dodge when I bought mine and it had a $34K sticker on it and I got it for $19K after all the rebates and discounts and $3k trade in.

Thanks guys; stopped by Marshall Mize & was helped by a man named Doc Holiday. Nice guy & very helpful. Also looking at Mountain View Ford. I assume both dealers are reputable.....all opinions both public and private are welcome.
Mine list 37500.00 after a week of haggling and me acting as if I really didnt care either way 31500.00 was my price including 100K warranty and a couple other perks. I felt good about it. Make sure they know theres plenty of places to look and buy from and you aint in a hurry...Dont get star struck its a numbers game..
The 2011 F-150's just got a new and improved engine lineup so the discounts aren't very good yet. You can get $10k or more off sticker on the leftover 2010 models. I want a FX4 with Ecoboost engine but I don't see me getting one anytime soon
Toyota's are great trucks but it's tough to get them to budge on the price. The dealers around here just won't deal with you. When I bought mine years ago I ended up driving to Clinton Tn to Fox Toyota because they are the only ones that really wanted to wheel and deal. They saved me about 7,500.00 from what the local dealers here wanted for the truck so it was well worth the drive. If I ever buy another truck it will be a Tundra or a Nissan Titan.
The F150 with Ecoboost V-6 has 365 hp and 420 torque at 2500 rpms. It will pull everything he mentioned easily. Hell most 20ft boats weigh 3500 lbs or more when you consider trailer, motor, etc. Diesel is overkill unless you are pulling heavy machinery or something. The new 5.0L V-8 has more hp and torque than the outgoing 5.4.
I would like to have one of the new GMC Sierras. 6.2L V8 with 403 hp and tons of torque for a gas motor. I agree with beetlespin that for pulling a boat or other type of utility trailer theres just not any need for a diesel. Way overkill unless you pull a fifth wheel or anything seriously heavy. My truck has a 5.3L and a 3:42 axle and pulls my boat like nobody's business. As far as brand, get what you like they make all of them pretty good these days. I would only suggest Chevy, GMC because the cost of ownership is very low compared to others and the warranty is top-notch.

This is going to be a work truck as well as a boat towing vehicle. Facts are simple. Diesel, best fuel economy loaded or empty, most dependable period, and by far best ride. Test your gas trucks, leave Dunlap headed toward Chattanooga pulling a 20 ft. boat on Hwy. 111. How fast were you running atthe bottom and how fast at the top?

Iwork out ofa F-250 Diesel. Currently it has 300,000 miles and I normally pull a 20 ft. tandem covered work trailor loaded with tools (planers, table saws, and assorted tools) and I still get 20 mpg. In answer to my test question, I have made the pull up 111 several times coming from Wrechin's with my 20 ft. Norriscraft. 65 at the foot of the mountain and 55 mph at the top without having to push the truck. Things last longer when you don't have to push them.
