Fished with a client below Nick-A-Jack Dam. We started out striper fishing. TVA had 1 flood gate open and was running some generators. Drifted about 10 or 12 times infront of the flood gate and only caught 3 stiper with a 15 to 17lb fish being the largest. Caught some drum and catfish in between the rock fish. We decided to bass fish so we headed down river to try and get out of the wind. We hooked up with a few good spots and largmouth. TVA opened up some more flood gates about 10:00 and not only were we fighting the wind but the current as well. Tough-Tough day and super slow for me. Clients said they had a good time and that they had a pretty productive day but for me I thought that it was slooow. I saw Jerdog fishing and he also mentioned how slow it was as well. I think he left early very early. By the end of the day my battries would not even hold the boat on a spot they were all but DRT (Dead Right There). I may need to have them checked or Saturday's wind and current was rougher than I thought. Usually they will outlast me. I also caught a nice walleye on a huge 3/4 oz striper jig with a plastic trailer. Thats the third one that I have seen this year. Strange?

Very nice looking fish BFG!!

F.Y.I. I went to AC/Delco Voyagers in group 31, that is a BIG battery, but they do hold up very well if ya dont mind the weight

Thank's for the info wormhook. I really dont care about the weight I'm not trying to out run that Riggs and Moore bunch in that bullet of theirs. I'm just focused on staying out there longer and stronger and catching some BigFish. I'll do some research on those battries. Right now I've got the biggest marine battery that Walley world carries not sure what group it is maybe a group 29 Everstart. That A.C. Delco battery is that a tractor battery or a marine battery?

Its a Marine deep cycle. Can get them at Lee Smith Parts on 23rd street. Bout $100 each, but well worth it.

Riggs/Moore bunch givin ya trouble????

LOL Wormhook a.k.a. Riggs !!emoLaugh

Just funnin ya buddie.....

BTW I also had looked into Optima, and was given the advice that they are good batteries, but really wouldnt last any longer. You are paying for the lower weight. I did however buy a cranking battery Optima and really like it. All of my lights, pumps, GPS etc etc run from that. and it holds up all day!! It was a bit high though...around $130 I think...

May have to head out there and pick me up two of them.

I know who I'm talking to. I just had to throw that one in there for yall. Especailly since I'm in that tank of boat that I'm in. Top speed 42MPH. I'm hauling four batteries around. 1 to crank the engine, 2 for the trolling motor, and 1 for the bait tank. When the bait tank is full of water it weighs about 300lbs. It's a load let me tell you. (LEAD SLED)

Thank's for the information

Wow that is a load. Ok so now that cat is out of the bag, how much ya gonna charge us two Yaahoos to go fishin some time?? I would really like to catch some big stripers like what you have been posting.

From what I hear I could charge you the Brother in law price which is double what I would charge a client. Congrats on yalls back to back classic wins on the Nick. Maybe you need to take me and show me how to catch those fish up on the lake and you could charge me. I may have to get me a spotter like xroads to keep an eye on that bullet.

Call me we can set something up for you. Striper/Smallie/Spot trip.

Its all in the Lucky Rabits foot..........both Tx's were won with the help of a kicker, and both of them came late in the day....1 at 2:30, and the other at 1:30. Thanks by the way!!! Now if we can just do it 2 days in a row for the CBA Classic coming up in 2 weeks....That is probably some of the most competitve guys that I have fished with. The "Chatt Boys" aint got nuttin on them!!!

I will check my funds as well as with the "boss" and see what I can come up with....

You must be using #4 trebal hooks on that Luky Rabbits foot and Cranking it deep on light line. You better be carful one of those lunker bass yall have been catching will take it away from you. HA! Take it to them and show them boys from Chatt town how it's done down here on the Nick.

Good Luck in the CBA!

Thanks for the Support Barry, we are going to give our best. Nickajack is , in my opinion, one of the best lakes around besides Guntersville, and the AL chain. I just hope that the new development doesnt hurt the healthy wildlife population, and fishery that we have!!!

I hate to see it coming. Proabbly the worst thing that I see with the project is the 400 boat slip marina that will be built down by the dam in the corner on the flat next to shellmound. C. Reed and J. Henry will have to find them a new fishing spot I guess along with everyone else that fishes that flat. No stopping it now though.

If they were real sporting about it, they would move it around so all of us had a fair advantage instead keeping it all on Chickamauga. The chattanooga boys would not show up for the Free Press TX 2 years ago on Nickajack, bec they were scared of the Guntersville gang and us!

And besides that, the Chatt boys made the rules making a buy in fair and legal, so why would I waste my time and money. Got a problem , complain to the Officers.

Sorry Dec1 you struck a nerve, besides all of the above, we were fishing to make 3 classics this year, and all 3 required attendance. Carl Reed has a Tour, Donnie Edmudson has a Tour also. We fished enough of all to 3 to make it. We won both of the Nickajack Classics, and now we are coming for the CBA Classic. I dont know who you are, but I have been fishing the CBA off and on since the early 80's back when they really had a big Tx. Now they only average around 50 boats. They have asked our opinion over the years, but nothing ever changes. Lots of other Tours move from lake to lake and have 50 boats so I dont want to hear about attendance dropping to nothing. The CBA is strictly for a close knit bunch of Chatt Boys, and it will never change until they retire, quit, or move on. Now if they dont like the fact that you can buy your way in, then they need to change it, and those of us that it affects, will either not fish it, or fish all of them simple as that. David Craft came to us along with several members and really encouraged us to fish and explained in detail our options.
How about this, all of the CBA boys come fish with us , we would love to have you!!

No BFG.......Wormhook and his partner need to stay North of the dam...... Nick tailwaters are off limits......they get to fishing down there and I will have to pay my spotter overtime!!!!

Geeze-o-peet.....yall are on us aint ya!!! I guess we will have to fish out of a 12' flatbottom with a 9.9, 1 rod, 1 bag of baits, with our arm behind our back....

XROADSBASSER,

Just make sure that lucky rabbits foot with the #4 trebel hook is not in that bag and they want catch a fish. Or maybe put a grub with the hook cut off the jig head, that might give all those other boats a chance.
