Where do I start at...

I tried to do some hunting years ago (16 or better) for a couple of years. Stomped around in the woods and set up stands. I seen only 1 deer walk by me in those 3 years and missed it! I quit right then and there...LOL.

Now Ive started back. I have some great friends that are guiding me along teaching me the basics and gonna make sure I get to gut my own!

Lets go backwards....Sat up on on some property Sunday night that has trails freaking everywhere and pretty fresh too. Acorns all around us ans squirrels are plentiful. Actually had one run down the tree I was in and get about 6 feet from me. What a thrill! Never did see any deer but we're working with the owner on the boundaries tonight and scouting a bit more.

Saturday night we headed up Bakewell Mtn where we have been given 25 plus acres to hunt...way back in the sticks. There's a crap load of 4 runners back there and very loud. Some decent signs but no takers that night.

Saturday morning...LOL...I have permission to archery hunt the 6 wooded lots right next to my house. I walk maybe 100 yard and enter them. After fighting with my harness...I get up in the tree and relax. About an hour after Im there, I spot the first doe. Not a bad one but 45 yards away and theres no clear shot. Then I spot another one thats bigger with a fawn. They never blew on me but seemed to stay in that one general location. The biggest moved in about 35 yards, still no shot and Im really not comfortable with that range just yet. 15 to 25, I can nail my targets. What a thrill to sit there and watch them...heart pounding...taking deeper breathes just waiting for them to walk on in. They never did and went back down a ridge cut. About 10 am, I came down and scoped out where they were. Fresh acorns and they had been bedding down there. Needless to say, Im moving in a tad closer next time! By 10:48, I was cutting my grass. Ha!

Ended up selling off allot of old music equipment. Thanks Spur for passing the info to your church! Took some of that cash and bought a Thompson Black Diamond with Buckmaster scope, case, and everything to fire it 26 times from Cheez. $275 out the door.

Pat Owensby got me a High country bow for $100 bucks. New biscuit and sights installed. Great condition and shoots very nice. He also hooked me up on a free climber tree stand. I had to clean it up a bit and add some pad for the seat but it works! harness courtesy of Teddy. Thanks Guys!

Spent some of the left overs on camo and accessories...I'm good to go! Really is nice to get the extreme exercise and get in the woods. I just cant wait to take one home!

If any of you guys want some company and can help a new hunter out...PM Me! God knows I cant afford a lease right now. Boats sales with trailer sales suck!
